💊 New UTI Treatment Available at Pharmacies 💊

Pharmacy First can now provide Nitrofurantoin (capsules or tablets) as a treatment option for uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women over 16.
This offers an alternative if Trimethoprim is not suitable. ✅

⚠️ Please note:
Not everyone will be eligible. Exclusions include:
❌ Men
❌ Care home residents
❌ Recent antibiotic use (within the last month)
❌ Recurrent UTIs (2+ in 6 months, 3+ in 12 months)
❌ Pregnancy
❌ Significant kidney problems

Caution is also advised in women over 65 and those with diabetes.

👉 If you think you have an uncomplicated UTI, speak to your local pharmacy. They can assess you and provide the most suitable treatment.

This September, we’re shining a light on Sepsis Awareness Month 🌍✨.
Sepsis is a medical emergency 🚨 — and the more we know, the more lives we can save 💪❤️.

🔎 What is Sepsis?
Sepsis is the body’s life-threatening reaction to infection 🦠➡️⚡.
It can lead to organ failure, septic shock, or death if not treated quickly ⏳💔.

📊 Why it matters:
⚰️ 1 in 5 deaths worldwide are linked to sepsis
👶 25,000 children in the UK are affected each year

🚦 Know the warning signs:
❗ High or low temperature
❗ Uncontrollable shivering
❗ Confusion / disorientation 😵‍💫
❗ Passing little or no urine 🚱
❗ Cold, blotchy, or mottled skin 🧊

👧👦 Children may show:
😮‍💨 Fast or laboured breathing
❄️ Pale, cold or mottled skin / blue lips
🤒 High or low temp
🥛🚫 Not feeding / vomiting / diarrhoea
😴 Lethargy or non-fading rash
