Peacefully at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Margaret Roy (nee Niven) aged 79 years. Dearly loved and loving mum of Wendy, Norma and Steven, devoted and very proud granny of Zachary, Cameron, Mhairi, Neil and Owen, dear mother in law of Karen and John and a good friend to many. Margaret will be very sadly and sorely missed. Funeral service at The Aberdeen Funeral Home, 49 Causewayend, on Thursday, October 2 at 11am, interment there after to Newhills Cemetery. All friends respectfully invited.

Baldarroch Chapel and Crematorium is set amongst the stunning countryside of Crathes Aberdeenshire and is a privately owned crematorium that opened in 2016.

The bright and welcoming chapel can seat up to 154 people with an additional seating of 18 if needed. Baldarroch also offer four types of memorials available, wall mounted memorials, sanctum memorials, columbarium memorials and kerb memorials. Further details on costs can be found following Baldarroch’s website directly.

Baldarroch Chapel and Crematorium is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm each day.

Outside these hours the gates allowing vehicle access to the grounds are locked. However, pedestrian access to the grounds is available at all times.

Aberdeen Crematorium, Book of Remembrance and Memorial Garden.

Aberdeen Crematorium is set in a peaceful woodland location west of the city centre located off Skene Road, Hazlehead. The crematorium has two chapels, East Chapel has seating for 96 people and West Chapel has seating for 270 people. The Crematorium also has parking paces for up to 142 cars with additional disabled parking spaces.

The Book of Remembrance is a permanent record of memory on display in the crematorium reception area. The book of remembrances has a separate page for each day of the year and the pages are turned on a daily basis so that entries are visible on the anniversary of the date of your loved one’s passing. The crematorium staff are happy to help if you wish to view any specific page of the book. The books of remembrance can be viewed online following the link below:

Whether it’s to scatter ashes or just to take a moment to remember a loved one the Garden of Remembrance at the crematorium is a beautiful and peaceful place. The garden is situated just after the entrance and exit junction in the crematorium grounds.. The scattering of ashes can be done by crematorium staff, with or without family present, or by the family.
Ashes may be taken away by the family to scatter at a place of their choosing. They may also be interred in a grave at a cemetery.
For the gardens to be sustainable, permanent memorials cannot be left. Instead, cut flowers with all plastics removed can be placed in the large vases supplied.

Reception opening times:
Monday to Friday: 9am to 4pm
Saturday and Sunday: Closed
Closed on public holidays, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
