🔥The ultimate core and pelvic floor challenge 🔥

Can you plank and blow up a balloon?

It is a great way to challenge your core and pelvic floor, as they have to be strong enough to support you in generating sufficient intra abdominal pressure to inflate the balloon.

You can make this exercise easier by inflating a balloon while:
🧸Doing a bear hold
🤸in a side plank
🧎‍♀️doing a knees down plank
🧱Planking against a wall

If you find you can't blow up a balloon at all, this can indicate weakness somewhere in your abdominal canister eg pelvic floor or abdomen. This is something a Plevic health Physio can help to diagnose and treat.

🍂Wrist pain holding you back in your workouts now that the weather’s getting colder?

You’re not alone - sore wrists during press-ups, planks, and other weight-bearing exercises are super common among our physio patients and Pilates clients.

These exercises place your wrists in deep extension - a position that requires both mobility and load tolerance. If you’re not progressively training that range under load, it’s no wonder your wrists start complaining mid-workout! 😬

We’re delighted to have her join us in clinic this month as her last placement on the RGU Msc Physiotherapy programme.

Saoirse has a special interest in MSK and Pelvic health and will be working alongside our team throughout November.

If you’re experiencing Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) or Diastasis Recti, you can book a student consultation, supervised by our senior physios, for tailored support and advice. There is no charge for these appointments.

💫 Tamara – She recently received a POGP bursary recognising her dedication to advancing Pelvic Health. Passionate about pelvic health, adolescent wellbeing and sporting injuries.

The beginning...

reformPhysio & Pilates was launched in January of 2020 by Physiotherapist Laura Patterson. After 15 years working as a Physiotherapist within the NHS and subsequently a large private practice, Laura was keen to strike an improved balance between work and family life whilst continuing to provide excellence in Physiotherapy care. Thus reformPhysio & Pilates came to be.
