According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), every year in the UK, approximately 13,000 people die from occupational diseases as a result of past exposures to hazardous substances. This underscores the critical importance of proactive industrial hygiene to protect workers’ health and ensure regulatory compliance.

As an Industrial Hygienist, Nicole Doig oversees monitoring programmes for a range of clients, ensuring exposure to hazardous substances is effectively controlled. She remotely interprets data collected by offshore teams, evaluates existing control measures, and recommends improvements where needed. For more complex monitoring workscopes, Nicole also mobilises offshore to provide hands‑on expertise and support.

TAC Healthcare’s Industrial Hygienists concentrate on the recognition, assessment, evaluation, and control of chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards on your sites. The service provided is consistent, thorough, and tailored to meet your specific requirements.

❤️ Valentine’s Day is a good reminder to show your heart a bit of love too.

Our February Wellbeing Monthly includes a “Love Your Heart” feature with practical, everyday ways to look after heart health - nothing extreme, just small habits that actually stick.

It also touches on how work patterns like long hours, stress and shift work can affect wellbeing over time, and what helps in real life.

If you want something quick and useful to share with your team (or keep for yourself), it’s worth a read.

🗓️ Time to Talk Day is Thursday 5 February 2026 - Mind’s biggest mental health conversation.

You don’t need the perfect words. Just make it easy:

“How are you really doing?”
“Want to take a short walk at lunch?”

Mind has free tips + resources if you’re sharing this at work https://www.mind.org.uk/get-involved/time-to-talk-day/

If someone needs urgent help: call 999 (immediate danger). For medical advice: 111 / GP. You can also call Samaritans 116 123 (24/7).

☕ Brew Monday is a simple idea from Samaritans: put the kettle on and make space for a real check-in.

Why it’s worth doing: loneliness is more common than people realise, an ONS survey period reported in 2025 found 24% of adults in Great Britain felt lonely often, always or some of the time.

If you’re not sure what to say, keep it easy:

“Fancy a quick brew this week?”
“How are you really doing?”
“Want to take a short walk at lunch?”

If you or someone you know needs support now, Samaritans are there 24/7 on 116 123.
