Hello October!
The change in seasons can feel like a reset button – the air is fresher, routines shift, and we might find ourselves needing a little extra care.

Here are some gentle October ideas to support your wellbeing:
🍁 Try a mindful autumn walk – notice the colours, textures, and sounds around you.
☕ Swap one busy hour for a cosy hour with a book, blanket, or warm drink.
📔 Start a "gratitude in autumn" journal – write down 3 small things each day that make you smile.
🌙 Give yourself earlier nights – your body may be asking for more rest.

Some days it can be easy to get out of bed and think positively about ourselves but other days it can be darn right impossible. That's why affirmations can be a really simple but helpful way to work on keeping each day positive. Here is an example of an affirmation you might say to yourself today:
I am braver than I believe
I am stronger than I seem
I am smarter than I think

🥳✨ 5 Year Anniversary of Aberdeen Bespoke Counselling ✨🥳

Today marks 5 years since Aberdeen Bespoke Counselling began—and I just want to take a moment to say… thank you.

To my clients—past and present—you are the heart of why I do this work. Thank you for trusting me with your stories, your challenges, and your hopes. It has been a privilege to walk alongside you as you navigate your journeys.

To those who follow and support me on social media—your encouragement, shares, and kind words mean so much. You’ve helped create a little online community of care and understanding that I’m so proud of.

The last five years have brought their share of challenges (including navigating the ever-changing world of IT and technology—some days easier than others! 😅). But every obstacle has been a chance to grow and adapt.

One of the greatest joys of this journey has been the continued learning—new and ongoing training in the areas I’m most passionate about: supporting people through trauma, neurodiversity, narcissistic abuse, childhood emotional neglect and emotional wellbeing.

And through it all, one thing remains the same:
🥰 I still absolutely love helping people.
🥰 I hope to continue making a difference—one conversation at a time.

Self‑Awareness & Calm plan for the next 7 days!

1 day: “Check in with your body for 60 seconds—what sensation stands out today? A tense jaw will tell you more than your thoughts.”
2nd day: “Set an intention, not a goal. Example: ‘Today, I’ll listen to what my body needs’ rather than ‘I’ll finish everything.’”
3rd day: “Pause before responding today. Even a deep breath can give your nervous system a moment to choose safety—not stress.”
4th day: “Write down one feeling you notice each time you check your phone. Are you bored? Lonely? Tired?”
5th day: “Give yourself permission to say no—today’s ‘no’ is tomorrow’s respect for your boundaries.”
6th day: “Spend five minutes noticing your breath. Describe it as warm, cool, short, long… gentle curiosity can soothe a racing mind.”
7th: “Name one act of self‑compassion you offered yourself this week. Better yet, do it again today.”

Sometimes in life we can feel stuck and unsure where we are going, what are goals are and even be questioning what we want for ourselves. Sitting down with a Counsellor/Psychotherapist and talking through each of the different areas of your life and deciding where you feel you are at and where you would like to go can be incredibly helpful.
The goal of this tool is to assess perceived satisfaction/dissatisfaction in the different
domains of life. This tool can help to gage a client’s sense of life fulfilment.
This exercise can be used to plan so that life becomes closer to the desired life: increasing the balance between the different life domains. And what “balance” looks like
is different for everyone!
