The case study of a young 19 year old girl who was involved in a head on collision that left her brain damaged and paralysed refers:
The accident left *Theresa with no control over her arms, legs or speech. Her body was permanently twisted to one side which caused her to slump over whenever in a seated position and she had no more control over her bladder and her colon needed to be cleaned out manually. With standard methods of therapy over 3 years there had only been the ability to start uttering a few sounds that her mother could kind of understand.
After being introduced to BSR and undergoing a session a month on and off for 4 years the improvements were as follows: 1. Neck muscles relaxed and she could raise her head off her chest 2. The curved lumbar spine recovered its normal shape 3. Some sensation returned to her legs, abdomen and spine. 4. Her left leg can now bend and the foot is no longer locked behind her other leg 5. She gradually was able to stand while supported and take a few steps 6. Her sounds became clearer, speech improved and she can now speak a few words 7. She could push herself upright and hold on to objects 8. She began menstruation again 9. She regained awareness of her bladder and her bowel started functioning on its own.

Body Stress in Specific Areas:
Lines of tension may become locked into any structure, anywhere in the body. However, compression of the spinal nerves potentially has a widespread effect, as the nerve connections supply a large body area, as well as the internal organs. By contrast, the impact of body stress in, for example, the wrist or knee will be more localised.
Viewed from the side, the spine has natural curves that give it strength and stability: a forward curve in the neck and lower back, and a backward curve in the chest region. A 62 year old female client was referred to me due to long-term back pain that had escalated after a recent long flight, to the point that she struggled to walk.

She was medically boarded more than 10 years ago due to pain and discomfort caused by spinal stenosis. Stenosis, which means narrowing, can cause pressure on your spinal cord or the nerves that go from your spinal cord to your muscles. Spinal stenosis can happen in any part of your spine but is most common in the lower back. She also had knee replacements 3 years ago.

I suggested a simple and very effective detox bath to alleviate the pain and muscle spasms even before we started the sessions.

As a baby, *Jake’s mother noticed that he was not using the right side of his body, so she took him to a pediatrician. An extensive examination included a brain scan and the parents were faced with a chilling revelation - the left side of his brain (which controls the right side of the body) was extremely underdeveloped. The diagnosis was hemiplegia - paralysis of one side of the body, and they were told he would never walk or talk.

When Jake was about ten months old his mother took him to a BSR practitioner for constipation. Over several months, she brought him back whenever the constipation recurred. One day she noticed that he was trying to grab his paralysed leg with his left arm. Then he started moving that leg, crawling, and even standing for a few seconds. His parents’ excitement mounted when Jake took a few steps. The progress continued steadily over the next four years with regular BSR, and he began talking, and then walking on his own. Greater movement also developed in the fingers.

The day arrived when the little boy came running into the practice and gave the practitioner a hug radiating love - a very emotional moment. Jake now attends a mainstream school, and his only limitation appears to be some lack of fine movement in his right hand.
