Are you hitting your target?

Protein is not only essential for every cell in your body BUT your body needs it to function properly!

Protein will help you:

❤Build muscle
❤Keep you fuller for longer
❤Slow down the digestion of other foods like carbohydrates
❤Supports overall energy

AND helps with the production of your hormones especially, thyroid, insulin and oestrogen.

Eating the right amount of protein is CRUCIAL for energy production and healthy weight loss and helps reduce your symptoms.

You need around 1g - 1.2g of protein per kg of body weight more if you are training.
So if you weigh 65kg then you need around 78g of protein per day. Aiming for 20g of protein from your main protein source per main meal is a good rule of thumb.

Here's what approximately 20g of protein looks like:

3 whole eggs
1 can of drained chickpeas or lentils
120g of feta cheese
165g of tofu
200g full fat Greek yoghurt
95g of almonds
85g of chicken
75g of beef
105g of salmon

If protein is something you find hard to prioritise then fear not because COMPLETE REBALANCE is the perfect way to learn and understand all about the protein how much you need.

The 3 mistakes YOU could be making that are contributing to weight gain!

Are you at a loss at what to do?

You are not alone!

Lots of people suddenly find themselves struggling with what to eat!

Their go-to diet is no longer working for them and is actually causing them to gain weight!

Weight gain is common and can be down to many different reasons but food often plays a big part.

Here are 3 common mistakes I see many people making:.

1. NOT EATING ENOUGH PROTEIN - Protein is the building block for all our cells and is needed for hundreds of functions in the body. Protein keeps you full, promotes fat loss and helps build muscle, which is essential.

2. EATING TOO MANY PROCESSED CARBOHYDRATES - By that I mean the starchy kind like bread, pasta and baked goods. As we age our bodies and hormones are changing and we can’t handle carbs like we used to. Many people overestimate the amount they need and the excess gets stored as fat. We do need to include carbohydrates in our diet but opting for the whole grain & seeded types are best.

3. EATING LOW FAT FOODS - Low fat foods are highly processed and often have added chemicals and sugars to improve taste. Unnecessary chemicals can play havoc with your digestive system and any excess sugar not used by your body will be stored as fat.

Do you find after eating certain foods, your stomach just doesn’t feel happy?

Do you feel bloated, get crampy pains in your stomach and experience more wind than usual after eating?

How we eat our meals is just as important as what we eat.

Does this sounds familiar?

Grabbing lunch on the go, eating at your desk at work, not chewing properly and swallowing big lumps of food, washed down with fizzy juice or tea/coffee.

Taking the time to chew and digest your food properly not only helps reduce bloating and digestive issues but it also helps your body to breakdown and utilise the available nutrients.

My 3 top tips to support digestion:

Don’t eat at your desk. If you have a staff room then eat there or if it’s a nice day, find a bench and eat outside.

Do some breathing exercises like box breathing (breathe in for 4, hold for 4, breathe out for 4, hold for 4) for a couple of minutes before eating to relax and switch to rest and digest mode.

Take the time to chew your food properly. This is really important. Chew it until it is liquid. This helps the digestive system break down the food which helps reduce digestive symptoms.

Let’s talk PROTEIN – the true unsung hero of your plate

Did you know that every single cell in your body needs protein? It’s not just for bodybuilders or gym buffs, it’s essential for all of us, especially if you want balanced energy, a steady mood, and a happy metabolism.

Here’s why protein deserves pride of place at every meal:

- Builds & maintains muscle – This becomes even more important as we age. Less muscle = slower metabolism and more aches and pains.
- Keeps your blood sugar stable – That means fewer crashes, cravings and grumpy mid-afternoon slumps.
- Helps you feel full for longer – Which means less mindless snacking and more control over your appetite (and your energy).

When you start your day with a protein-rich meal, you’re setting the tone for a more balanced, energised day, physically and emotionally. Aim for around 20–30g of protein at breakfast if you can. It might sound like a lot, but it’s easier than you think!

Some delicious, nutrient-packed options:

❤Eggs (boiled, scrambled, poached – however you like them!)
❤Fish – like smoked salmon, mackerel or even sardines on toast
❤Beans & lentils – add them to a savoury breakfast or brunch
❤Chickpeas – perfect for breakfast hummus bowls or savoury wraps
❤Good quality protein powder – ideal for smoothies or porridge
❤Nuts & seeds – sprinkled over yoghurt, porridge or eaten as a butter
