A lovely Friday has been had by all at Deeside. This morning we did some beach paintings and discussed times spent at the beach as youngsters and with our families. This afternoon we all came together for happy hour, we all enjoyed a drink, a catch up with friends and a sing song and dance.

Wednesday morning at Deeside made our own pizza, everyone was chatting about their favourite toppings and the age old question came up about whether pineapple belongs on pizza. It was a fabulous and we enjoyed eating the pizzas later in the day. In the afternoon we came together for some active games. This brought about teamwork as me mastered moving hoops along obstacles to one another then we finished it off with a game of 10 pin bowling. A great day was had by all.

Wednesday at Deeside it was our weekly board games. Everyone came together and enjoyed a game of cards, dominoes and scrabble. It has been described at our weekly activities forum as a residents highlight of the week as she gets to join friends in a bit of friendly competition.

Tuesday at Deeside we took the opportunity to thank our hardworking nurses for international nurses day. The nurses here at Deeside put their heart and soul into their roles. They lead our team with compassion, kind and caring natures and are appreciated by not only the residents but by the whole staff team. Earlier in the week after our qigong session we had a discussion about the words we would use to describe our nurses the residents described the nurses here as
Kind
Loving
Compassionate
Caring
Helpful.
They all wished to thank them for their hardwork so they received an afternoon tea prepared by the fabulous kitchen team, a heart shaped word cloud and a wee token of our appreciation. I won’t ruin the surprise as not all of the nursing team were in today. Once again we thank you all for your hardwork.

Friday morning at Deeside we all got creative by making our own colourful flowers inspired by our lovely flowers that are beginning to blossom in the garden area. Everyone was delighted with the results. In the afternoon we caught some more sun and held our happy hour outside. We competed in a quiz and enjoyed a dance and a sing song whilst enjoying each other’s company.

We are hosting our annual summer fayre on the Saturday the 11th July between 11am and 2pm. Tickets will be available to purchase from the 1st June at a cost of £5 per person. There is no charge for residents or children. Ticket price includes a burger.

We are also looking for raffle donations and if anyone fancies a stall it is £15 and you will need to provide your own table. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact our wellbeing manager Lorna.

Another lovely day at Deeside. Thursday afternoon we went out to the garden to enjoy our garden area and plant some flowers. The pots and baskets looked great once planted and we can’t wait to see the vibrant colours appear again once the flowers begin to bloom. Once we completed the planting enjoyed sitting in the sunshine and having a drink and a chat amongst ourselves.

What a fabulous Wednesday we had at Deeside today, this morning while some of us were playing board games others were taking in the gorgeous views across Deeside on one of our balcony. Everyone enjoyed the sun shining down on them and having a chat amongst friends. In the afternoon some one to one time was spent with residents and staff. We reminisced about places we have lived, holidays and pets we have owned. Time spent together is valuable as we learn more about each other and can arrange our activities round individuals. We also said a fond farewell to one our activities coordinators Ewelina. She will be sorely missed by everyone at Deeside and we wish her all the best in her new chapter.
