Archie at Aberdeen Neonatal Unit

Archie at Aberdeen Neonatal Unit We are the official charity of the Neonatal Unit at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, supporting babies born too sick or too soon.

All of the money that is donated and fundraised for Archie at The Neonatal unit goes back into the Unit. We have helped provide enhanced medical equipment, pediatric training & research, and family support for the parents and carers whose babies are in the unit.

⛳️🏌️‍♂️What a fantastic day we had at Meldrum House Country Hotel & Golf Course for our Annual Golf Day!🏌️‍♀️⛳️

The day kicked off with a hearty breakfast, before our teams headed out for the shotgun start! Everyone enjoyed a brilliant round of golf, with exciting opportunities to win prizes, including an Audi A1. Unfortunately, none of our players was quite lucky this time.

After a great afternoon on the course, everyone tucked into a delicious BBQ before we moved on to the awards presentation, auction, and our fantastic raffle draw✨

A huge thank you to all of our incredible prize donors and sponsors for your generosity. Your support helped make the day extra special.

Congratulations to our overall winners of the day, team Worley! A fantastic achievement. We’d also like to say a massive thank you to Euan Duff Photography for joining us on the day and capturing so many amazing moments 📸

Thank you to all the teams who took part and supported the event. Days like this are so important in helping us continue supporting babies, children, and families facing medical struggles and bereavement💙

Meet our Kiltwalkers 💙

Say hello to Cath Walker, one of our wonderful Bereavement Support Workers at The Archie Foundation.

This will be Cath’s second time taking part in the Kiltwalk and she is no stranger to a challenge, having previously completed the London Marathon.

Cath says:
“I love raising money for charity and being part of such a joyful event where people come together to do something kind for others.” 💜

This year, Cath will be walking alongside fellow bereavement support workers Jenny and Aleysha, and is looking forward to plenty of chats and laughter along the way.

Cath shared how proud she is to work for Archie and to see first-hand the impact the charity has on children, young people and families across local communities every day.

Meet our Kiltwalkers 💙

Next up in our staff spotlight series is Aleysha, who is taking on the Kiltwalk for the very first time this year!

Aleysha is a Bereavement Support Worker at The Archie Foundation, supporting children who have experienced the bereavement of someone close to them, both in schools and at home. Before joining Archie, she worked as a primary teacher for eight years and even taught abroad in Abu Dhabi.

When asked why she decided to take part in the Kiltwalk, Aleysha said:

“I decided to take part in the Kiltwalk this year for the first time as I see firsthand through my role the difference Archie makes to children and young people. I saw this as an opportunity to make a difference.”

Aleysha is especially looking forward to walking alongside her colleagues Jenny and Cath:

“We are such a strong, supportive team and I know we will encourage each other as well as having some laughs along the way.”

She also shared what Archie means to her personally:

“Archie Foundation to me means making a difference. In challenging times for children and families, Archie are a fantastic source of support in so many ways. My role is so rewarding and knowing I’m there to support children with their grief and emotions and make things even a little bit easier for them is a real privilege.”

“Fundraising events like the Kiltwalk are important as they’re an opportunity for us to raise awareness about The Archie Foundation and the wonderful work we do. It’s also a chance for people to give back to this amazing charity that I feel lucky to work for.”

✨Meet Wendy Joss✨

Wendy is a Senior Play Specialist, and below she walks you through a fantastic feature of the Little Journey app. This app gives children and their carers an inside look at the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital before they even arrive.

From keeping track of appointments, answering important questions before visits, to fun games that provide positive distraction while waiting, it’s designed to make every hospital visit a little easier and a lot less scary.

We at The Archie Foundation are incredibly proud to have supported the funding of this fantastic resource, helping to improve the hospital experience for children and families who walk through NHS Grampian doors💙

The app is available to download now on the App Store and Google Play

In April, our Archie Family Centre welcomed families from near and far, providing a safe and supportive place to stay while their child received care in Aberdeen 💙

For some families, their stay is planned ahead of treatment or appointments. For others, a room is needed unexpectedly in an emergency, when there is no nearby accommodation while their baby or child is in hospital.

We are incredibly proud to be able to offer families a home away from home here at RACH, helping them stay close to their child when it matters most ⭐

Every night of accommodation is made possible thanks to the generosity of our supporters, thank you for helping us be there for families when they need it most.

If you would like to support vital services like our Family Centre, we would love to hear from you 📩 hello@archie.org
