Loving the collaboration 💪

We are pleased to announce that our SVQ Centre is working in partnership with Paramount Care Aberdeen to support their staff in achieving their SVQ qualifications.

This initiative is central to ensuring that staff meet the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration requirements, safeguarding professional standards across the care sector. By investing in qualifications and workforce development, Paramount Care Aberdeen is demonstrating a clear commitment to compliance, quality, and best practice.

Most importantly, supporting staff to achieve these qualifications not only strengthens professional capability but also enhances the quality of care provided to service users, ensuring it remains safe, effective, and person-centred.

My SVQ Journey in Health & Social Care

Why I Started My SVQ:
I decided to start my SVQ because i wanted to have more knowledge about medication, communication, health & safety and personal care for career development. Before beginning, I felt nervous about the amount of written work required but excited to learn new skills and knowledge.

My Journey:
During my SVQ, one challenge I faced was getting enough information into the different sections and I overcame it by asking Gail for advice and support . Also finding the time to complete each unit on time but with hard work and dedication I was able to complete these on time.

One particular experience or assessment that helped me grow was development and knowledge which involved my own self knowledge and the knowledge I had learnt.

Support Along the Way:
My assessor/centre supported me by answering any questions I had or anything I struggled with which really helped me balance work and study.

How It’s Made a Difference:
Completing my SVQ has changed the way I work by putting all the knowledge and skills into everyday care to the best of my ability.
It has helped me gain more confidence in my work and opened up opportunities like doing more levels on my svq to achieve a higher position in the future with the company.

Advice for Others:
If you’re thinking about starting your SVQ, my advice would be to definitely do it. There’s lots of advice and support throughout your journey and can achieve a good qualification for your future.
One key takeaway or moment that stands out from my journey is my assessor Gail. She was absolutely fantastic with the amount of support and guidance I received from her. Made me feel so at ease, comfortable and believed in me.

Looking Forward:
I’m proud to have completed my SVQ because i have always wanted to gain this qualification for my future. I am proud of myself and so happy. I’m excited to keep developing and gaining more qualifications to improve my future and make something of myself that my family can be proud of.
