I am out of clinic Mon/tues 6/7th October to renew my pre hospital care first aid course, so appointments that week are limited already.

I am off w/c 27th October for a little break in the sunshine.

This year it is all about Healthy Ageing.

Some myths busted!
Myth: Once you lose mobility it can't be regained...
Fact: Physio helps to restore mobility improve walking ability and maintain independence at any stage

Myth: Exercise is dangerous for older adults
Fact: Physio can help guide exercises to work on strength, flexibility and reducing falls risk. Exercise is safe for everyone- you need to find the thing that suits you

Myth: Falls are an inevitable part of ageing
Fact: Physio improved balance and coordination to reduce falls risk

Myth: Pain is a natural part of ageing
Fact: We shouldn't need to live with pain, physio can help manage it to help keep you active at any age.

We are here to help keep you active, socialising with your friends while enjoying your favourite activities.

Another full month in clinic, couple of Friday afternoon's off but other than that you will find me in Ellon on a Monday and Wednesday and at Reform Physio on a Tuesday and a Thursday.

Pilates is running as normal, Tuesday mornings, Thursday evenings and online on a Wednesday morning.

You guys kept me busy in July with over 70 patients in Aberdeen, 55 patients in Ellon, 43 pilates classes and I managed to squeeze in covering 4 football games 😮 But I absolutely love what I do, so thank you all!

🧘‍♀️New Pilates blocks start this week🤸‍♀️

The new block of Physio- led Pilates will start this week, the Tuesday morning class is currently full and a waiting list is open.

Both Thursday evening classes have spaces in them at the moment, so if you want a challenge or to give pilates a try get in touch to book.

Classes are suitable for all levels and abilities. Everything is modifiable and my physio knowledge allows me to adapt for injuries also.

We know you're itching to get back to your old self ASAP
🧊💊But if your first move is to grab the ice pack and ibuprofen you might be slowing down the magic ✨

Heres the truth: Ice & ibuprofen are anti inflammatory, and inflammation isn't always the enemy!
It's your bodies way of protecting itself and starting to rebuild muscles, ligaments, tendons and bones- basically making you stronger than before. 💪

So maybe skip the "anti- everything" and focus on the good stuff:
🥗 Eating enough (plenty protein)
💧Staying hydrated
😴 Get good quality sleep
🚶‍♀️Gentle movement (movement is medicine)

No need for fancy hacks, just simple, solid recovery done right!

☀️🪏🪴 The weather has been lovely this weekend. If you’re out in the garden be mindful of how you’re moving.

Here’s some tips to try and avoid injury/sore backs.

Don’t just go at it for hours and hours, change your activity, use a wheelbarrow, kneel on knee pads and do some stretches after.

As well as making sure you drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Wondering if you can keep training through an injury?
Spoiler alert: Yes, you absolutely can.

In fact, if I ever tell you to just "rest and do nothing" feel free to walk out and leave!

Here's why:
Your normal training and physical activity affect so much more than just your body, they play a huge role in your:
🔘 Physical Health
🔘 Mental wellbeing
🔘 Social Life

If any of these take a hit then your recovery is likely to slow down too.

So rather than just pausing everything, I will work with you, take a detour per se. I will tweak your training to keep you active, moving and progressing without messing up your rehab

So if you were hoping for a cosy excuse to binge Netflix guilt free...sorry not here! But if you're ready to stay active and recover like a legend, hop aboard!
