Culture often defines postpartum as a quick “recovery period.” But science tells us something different. Postpartum isn’t about “bouncing back.”

Research led by Dr. Magdalena Martínez-García shows that the maternal brain continues to change for up to six years after birth. Gray matter and cortical thickness decrease beginning in pregnancy and through the postpartum period. These changes are not loss, they’re adaptation. They expand a mother’s capacity for emotional connection and responsiveness.

A 2024 study published in Nature Neuroscience confirmed this transformation, using precision imaging to track the brain from preconception through two years postpartum. The results reveal what women have always known: motherhood rewires us in ways that make us stronger, more resilient, and deeply attuned.

Postpartum is not only about recovery. It is strength. It is resilience. It is evolution.

Paracetamol in pregnancy | The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has reiterated the guidance that paracetamol is safe to take, as per the patient information leaflet, during pregnancy. The MHRA have further stated there is no evidence taking paracetamol during pregnancy causes autism in children.

Pregnancy treatments

When, why, how???

🫄You are safe to come to me throughout. Most clients choose to come monthly until they get a little closer to babies arrival when they will often come more regularly.

🫄Clients who are only able to come occasionally are advised to do so mid way through 3rd trimester. I get lots of clients who look to come for a session at their due date to help things progress, to get the best impact of this it is better to come regularly throughout pregnancy so your body can get used to treatments and get that oxytocin bedded in early to help with any more natural induction.

🫄Treatments are so beneficial in so many ways.... Massage eases the aches and pains of your ever changing bodies, releasing tension and allowing you time to relax and recharge. Regular sessions can help with a variety of symptoms such as pelvic pain, sciatica, tense shoulders and keep your skin feeling nourished.
Reflexology is a winner all round, supporting your body to achieve as much balance as possible. Reflexology helps to reduce inflammation in the body allowing a release of fluid, encouraging a sluggish digestive system to move more efficiently, boosting immune system and babies are always very active during our sessions.
Facials, head massage and so much more just help you to relax, boost skin and promote wellbeing. Anything during pregnancy you can do to take the time to connect with yourself is just massive and allows you time to connect with baby at this sacred time. X

Most sessions of massage we do side lying and I have a variety of tools to keep you comfortable. For facial and reflexology sessions we use my electronic bed to prop you up in to a more seated position. I will always do my best to make sure you are comfortable.

My clients constantly say, "I wish I had come sooner," so if you are interested, book... You won't regret investing in your body. Aswell as being trained to the hugest level available in the UK I also am a qualified KG hypnobirthing instructor so if you are having any concerns you are in incredibly safe hands.

The teachings of this man will be found in the heart and soul of all birth workers who seek, support and encourage physiological Birth.

Michel Odent reminded us that birth is not a medical procedure to be controlled, but a primal rhythm to be respected.

Read that again....

He advocated for home-like maternity units.warm water births, protecting the birthing woman's privacy and honouring her instincts, and following birth undisturbed contact between mother and newborn.

He questioned many of the practices that had (and have) become normalised in overmedicalised maternity systems globally.

Michel Odent's legacy lives on in every dimmed, quiet birthing room, and in every Birth worker his words and work has inspired.

And if you haven't delved into his teachings and work, then you absolutely should.

Wow that was a hot one tonight for the girls and their bumps.
They all did amazingly well . 5 new faces joined the mix tonight, it was lovely to meet you all, you know who you are. . 🥰

So, because of the temp and the fact i know pregnant people so well, i switched it up a bit on the refreshments at the end of class. Instead of the usual hot drinks and traybakes, tonight I opted for some cooler refreshments for them, because let's face it, who doesn't love an ice lolly on a hot day.

To say they were delighted was an understatement. 😍

Here's hopping for a slightly cooler session next week..

It's nearly time for the regular timetable of classes to resume. That means I can almost say I have survived the Summer Holiday Craziness of juggling childcare and work and making memories with my wee gang.🥰

So here's a wee run down of what's available where and when.

PREGNANCY
I have had a lot of new babies appearing from the Pregnancy classes, which means I have spaces in both classes. I would love to nurture you through your pregnancy and help you to prepare for birth.

Hoodles Wednesday's @ 7pm
Monymusk Sundays @ 6pm

MUM AND BABY
There are also Mummies returning to work, which means I also have spaces in both Mum and Baby classes, come and join our relaxed space with your little one. Class is aimed at nuturing your post birth body and mind, and focussing on connection between you and your baby and also encouraging connections and sharing with the other Mummies in class.

SLOW FLOW WOMENS CLASS
A perfect class as a follow on to the above or for any woman who wishes to explore and include more me time in their life.
Its a nurturing class, with the focus being on relaxation and stretching. We indulge in a guided Savasana at the end of our practice to send you blissfully on your way. Providing both your Body and Mind with the perfect wee reset before the week ahead.

Monymusk Sunday's @ 8.15pm

No previous yoga experience is needed for any of the classes, So if you have ever fancied giving Yoga a try then this would be perfect for you and I'm more than happy to guide you on your yoga journey.

We are just a friendly welcoming community of women who don't take life too seriously, like to chat, drink a cuppa and enjoy a fine piece.

A different kind of Tuesday morning for me.

Sat near Greyhope Bay watching the Tall ships leave.
The sun is shining, I have a cuppa and snacks and only Rosie Posie for company!!

In the midst of the school hols, this is rare, bliss and much needed. 🥰

What are you doing to carve out a little time for yourself? Mummyhood is a full time profession on top of any work you do. It's important to fill your cup.

Do I feel a little guilty none of them are here with me.... a little. But I know I shouldn't.

Would they be sitting peacefully watching it..... nope. Probably would be chattering non stop in my ear. 😂

Its nearly time for the Summer Holidays.

Motherchakra classes will be running a reduce timetable over the Summer.

There's only little old me running this wee business and teaching all the classes and my little people are growing fast, so I'm making sure I take some quality time out with them all during the holidays.
Oh my, we think the time passes quickly when they are tiny, but wow the years sure do fly in once they start school!!

There are a couple of classes to be confirmed, as you will see.

The Hoodles Mum and Baby classes are taking a longer break but class attendees are very welcome to join us for the Summer Mum and Baby classes at Monymusk. Just a short drive from Inverurie,

Similarly, there is a good selection of Pregnancy classes running at both venues over summer and all class attendees are welcome to join us at either venue to maintain their practice and receive support during their pregnancy.

All you need to do is pop me a wee message to let me know you wish join us in an alternative class, it would be lovely to have you. 🥰
You know how we roll.... the kettle is always on with a funcy piece at the ready.

I have a little secret, but shush, don't tell anyone. It's my birthday next week and its a big one!!!

So, my Birthday Gift to myself is a weeks holiday from teaching whilst the kids are at school. Bliss, I use to do this regularly but got out of the habit, so I thought next week is the perfect time to resurrect this luxury.

I did mention this in the classes so far this week. but for those that were off or maybe missed it this is just a little heads up.

Classes are ON this Sunday as normal and then I will be off for a week, with classes recommencing on Tuesday the 17th June at Monymusk.

I hope you all have a fabulous week in the meantime. Don't forget to use the class WhatApp groups to seek support or arrange catch ups whilst the classes are off. If you are fancying a walk you can bet some of the other Mummies will be too. Or if you are a mummy and bump then why not meet up somewhere for a cuppa and chat on class night.

See you all in just over a week, when I'll be another year older, and wiser, maybe! 🤣
