📉 Hypo Awareness Week is coming up!

Our amazing Diabetes in Grampian Specialist Nurses will be out and about next week, running two information stalls to raise awareness of hypoglycaemia – when blood sugar levels drop below healthy levels. At its most serious, it can cause seizures or even loss of consciousness.

Paracetamol in pregnancy | The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has reiterated the guidance that paracetamol is safe to take, as per the patient information leaflet, during pregnancy. The MHRA have further stated there is no evidence taking paracetamol during pregnancy causes autism in children.

Big day today for our ACT, Ashleigh at Clifton Road! Today marks 15 years of service. Ashleigh has worked here since she was just 22, over the years she has developed her skills and accomplished her accuracy checking technician qualification. She is also now part of our management team! Fair to say that Ashleigh is a big assest to our team and patients, we are so grateful and lucky to have her. Here's to another 15 yrs 😉🩷

We've received many enquiries about ear wax removal recently, so here’s some helpful information:

- We use the Tympahealth device, as shown in the photo below. This device connects to an iPhone and allows us to examine the ears closely.

- We can capture before and after photos and videos during the procedure.

- A hearing check is available during your wax removal appointment.

- If your ears are blocked, we recommend using olive oil for 1-2 weeks before your appointment to facilitate easier wax removal.

- Appointments typically last between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the consistency of the wax.

- The cost is £20 for the initial check, plus an additional £30 if wax removal is needed from one or both ears.

If your hearing check that we carry out measures a threshold of under 25 dB, we can refer patients directly to a Tympa audiologist without the need for a GP visit or NHS referral. This means patients receive a free pure-tone audiometry test as soon as possible—costing them nothing and saving valuable time!

Why is Hearing Health Important?

Hearing loss can significantly impact cognitive health, contributing to conditions like dementia.
