Specialists in musculoskeletal injury management and neurological rehabilitation.

We are a private clinic, staffed by a team of highly qualified physiotherapists with extensive experience in sport, work and musculoskeletal injury management. Conveniently located within the University’s Sir Ian Wood Building at Garthdee, the clinic is supported by a range of other services including biomechanical assessment, gait analysis, aquatic therapy and a human performance laboratory. Our ethos is twofold, firstly to provide a professional end-to-end service where we will work with you every step of the way during recovery, and secondly to create an individualised treatment programme to provide you the tools to help you help yourself. Unfortunately at the moment we are unable to provide sports/theraputic massage appointments.

We are delighted to share that the Physiotherapy Clinic at RGU Wellness has been nominated for an Aberdeen Business Award in the Best Health and Wellbeing Business category.

We are absolutely thrilled to have been nominated and would like to extend our sincere thanks to whoever put us forward. Regardless of the outcome, this recognition means a great deal to us. We are a small clinic, nestled within the RGU community, with a clear purpose: to support staff, students, and our local community through person-centred care that helps people remain active and able to participate in the activities that matter most to them.

This nomination would not have been possible without the outstanding work of Beinn Burroughs, who works within the RGU Clinic and has taken the service from strength to strength since joining just over a year ago. His commitment, expertise, and drive have been instrumental in the clinic’s continued growth and impact.

We also could not mention the clinic without acknowledging Janette Buchanan, who keeps everything running smoothly from an administrative perspective. Janette’s support and her exceptional communication with patients play a vital role in ensuring a seamless and positive patient experience.

Introducing Shockwave Therapy at the RGU Wellness Physiotherapy Clinic ⚡️⚡️

What is shockwave therapy?
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment technique used by physiotherapists which can have powerful effects on tissue healing and pain.

How does it work?
Using high pressure acoustic waves (think super charged sound pulses) the shockwave machine is thought to promote your body’s healing process from the outside in!

This week we had the hard job of saying goodbye to our incredible physiotherapist Tom as he moves back to live over in Japan! 🇯🇵

Tom has been a key part of the physiotherapy clinic team over the last year and we can’t thank him enough for all of his hard work! 🤩

While we are sad to see him go we are equally as excited to see him flourish in this new chapter! ⭐️

Our MSc Student, Jermaine, whom many of you met over the last couple of months recently finished his placement with us and delivered an excellent presentation on chronic pain to the team on his last day, a topic he became increasingly interested in during the placement.

He discussed what our understanding of chronic pain is, the common causes of chronic pain, common symptoms, the role of physiotherapy in supporting individuals with chronic pain and management strategies.

Thanks for a great CPD session Jermaine!
