This week, our Stage 2 MSc students organised an afternoon of sports activities and invited lecturers along to join in! 🏐🏸🏀

Not all staff members could attend due to exam commitments, but Rory and Chris did a great job representing the team! Great effort guys👏

A huge well done to the students for organising such a fantastic event - a brilliant way to let off some steam during a busy period.

And a special shout-out to for the last minute use of the sports hall after some heavy rain! 🌧️

Colleagues from the School of Health recently attended "Shaping Tomorrow" at Robert Gordon University - a conference focused on work-integrated, research-informed, and inclusive education.

A highlight of the day was an inspiring keynote from Professor Annie Hughes of Kingston University, who explored how AI is set to influence and transform the way we teach and support our students. She emphasised the importance of embracing modern technology, building AI literacy, and ensuring students continue to develop the higher-level skills needed to become industry-ready - all while balancing cognitive, emotional, and practical dimensions to create inclusive education.

Through presentations and workshops, the day showcased the fantastic work already happening and sparked new ideas for how we can continue supporting our students and future graduates. Inspiring, motivating, and full of valuable conversations about the future of education.

Hydrotherapy teaching in action with our 2nd year MSc and DPT Physiotherapy students!

Having access to the RGU Sport pool allows students to bring theory to life - applying key principles like hydrostatic pressure, drag, and buoyancy to real clinical scenarios. This hands-on experience helps build the skills needed to design safe, effective, and patient-centred treatment plans. A great example of learning beyond the classroom and into practice - it's also good fun!

Our Stage 2 MSc and DPT students recently took part in some high-performance sport teaching sessions 🏃‍♂️

We were delighted to welcome James Cruickshank () from , who delivered engaging teaching on his assessment and management approach to running-related injuries.

We also welcomed Ally Little from the Scottish Rugby Union, who provided an insightful session on career pathways into sport and the realities of working within high-performance environments.

A fantastic opportunity for our students to learn directly from experienced clinicians in the field!

Happy hand-in day to our Stage 4 MPhys students! 🎉

Yesterday marked the submission of their final research projects (dissertations) - a huge milestone after years of hard work and dedication. It was fantastic to see students on campus celebrating and capturing the moment.

Our Stage 3 MPhys and Stage 2 MSc students have had a busy week welcoming a fantastic range of external speakers delivering teaching on specialist topics!

Physiotherapists Gavin and Dominic from the Learning Disabilities team delivered an informative session, including practical teaching on the technique of abdominal massage.

Physiotherapists Bex, Nicola and Lindsey from RACH also provided insightful teaching on Paediatrics, while Yvonne (NHS) and Laura () led engaging sessions on Pelvic Health and Mummy MOT.

Alongside this, Midwifery Lecturer Maria delivered a valuable session on Ante/Post Natal Care.

It’s incredibly valuable for our students to learn from clinicians and specialists working in these areas, and we’re very grateful for the time and expertise our external speakers share with us each year - thank you! 🙌

I'll try to take more photos next time! 😂

Last week we said a fond farewell to Paul Moran as he returns to a clinical role in the NHS.

It was incredibly hard to say goodbye to Paul, who has been our Team Lead for many years. We will greatly miss his knowledge, unwavering support, kindness, and brilliant sense of humour - qualities that have made such a lasting impact on our team and students alike.

Many of you will have fond memories of Paul, who joined the lecturing team in 2015. If you have a story or message you’d like to share, please do add it in the comments - we know he would love to read them.

Of course, we couldn’t let him go without a team night out at Legends Sports Bar for some pool and darts. Fittingly, Paul won the pool tournament. While some of the team might say they let him win 👀, it was certainly well deserved! A great night had by all.

Paul was, of course, an avid supporter of Liverpool FC (really? We had no idea… 😉) and particularly enjoyed reading the comments left by students in the Liverpool 2026 Annual - a lovely and thoughtful touch.

Swipe to see Paul’s gift to the team, which we will proudly display on the office wall (and which definitely gave us a giggle!).

We wish him every success in his new role - they are so lucky to have you, Paul!
