The Archie Foundation Transforming experiences and outcomes for babies, children and their families.

Making the Difference’ for close to 100,000 patients every year, the ARCHIE Foundation provides all of the extras that allow an enhanced level of care for local children. We provide key staff posts such as the ARCHIE Specialist Nurse, the ARCHIE Play Leader and the ARCHIE Family Support Worker. We buy life changing medical equipment and fund specialist training to ensure the local healthcare teams can always provide the most up-to-date and high quality care. We buy toys, books and computer games, run art workshops and provide musical concerts in the hospital – often at the bedside of children who are too sick to come to our communal play areas.

Of course it's Wicked! And how fitting that it went up on the very same day part 2 hit the cinemas!

The tree has already stopped people in their tracks, everyone walking past has been amazed! If you're visiting, make sure to snap a photo with it... It's even more magical in person!

We at Archie are absolutely honoured to have been chosen as their Charity of the Year, and we’re so excited to see what the year ahead brings!

To kick things off, the team set up the loveliest Halloween sweet stall in support of our Play in Healthcare campaign, raising £340🍬

These funds will help ensure play teams across the North of Scotland are well supported, and that children have access to vital play materials throughout their hospital stays 💙

Today is World Prematurity Day, a moment to recognise and celebrate the little warriors who arrive too soon, the families who walk this journey with such strength and love, and the wonderful staff who care for them with such dedication. They deserve appreciation every single day 💜

Yesterday we were delighted to hold a few lovely events ahead of World Prematurity Day. The day began with a relaxed brunch for current families in the neonatal unit, followed by a support afternoon in the MacGillivray Room at AMH. It was a brilliant event and we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along. It was wonderful to see so many families and their little ones, including those who made the journey from as far as Edinburgh.

A very special thank you also goes to Revolution Aberdeen for very kindly providing pizzas for the afternoon. They were so popular there were none left! 🍕

To continue the celebration today, we were delighted to be supported by The Bread Guy and J.G. Ross (Bakers) Limited who generously provided a wonderful spread of treats, including slices of cake and mince pies, for families and staff in neonatal. Support from local partners like The Bread Guy and J.G. Ross (Bakers) Limited means so much to us. It helps us show our appreciation, bring people together and continue celebrating the strength and resilience within our neonatal community. Having local businesses join us in marking days like today reminds families and staff that the wider community is standing with them ⭐

Please also keep an eye out for Marischal College, which will be turning purple this evening in celebration of World Prematurity Day. Purple is the colour of prematurity and a symbol of hope and awareness for families everywhere 💜

October was another busy month at the Archie Family Centre, with families spending a total of 455 nights with us.

We are so proud to say that last month we could support 121 families from across Scotland, with our 19 ensuite rooms, each with a pull-out buddy bed. Our Family Centre offers a home away from home for parents and carers while their baby or child is in hospital. We help take away one worry from what is often an incredibly difficult time.

This space is completely free of charge to those who need it most.

Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra Christmas Concert 🎄

Join us for an evening of festive music in support of The Archie Foundation. The concert will feature performances from the Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra and young vocalists from MJR Vocal Tuition, followed by a sing-along of much-loved Christmas carols. Conducted by Rachel Mackison ⭐

There will also be a bake sale, craft sale and raffle during the interval, with background music from an A*O saxophone quartet. Refreshments are included for ticket holders, and all proceeds will go to The Archie Foundation’s Children’s Burns and Plastic Surgery Fund, helping to make a difference for children and families across the north of Scotland.

The Archie Foundation is on the lookout for wonderful choirs to join us at The Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital throughout December as part of our annual Advent Calendar of festive activities! 📆

Each year, choirs fill the hospital with joyful music, lifting the spirits of all during the Christmas season. It’s a truly special way to bring the community together and create some lovely memories! 🎶

Join us to celebrate World Prematurity Awareness Day 2025! 💜

Whether you’re currently in the Unit or were there 30 years ago, we’d love to see you. This free event is a wonderful opportunity for neonatal staff and families to come together to celebrate the specialist care provided at the Aberdeen Neonatal Unit, proudly supported by The Archie Foundation.

There’ll be pizza, refreshments and a special guest speaker — as well as the chance to reconnect, share stories and celebrate the incredible journeys of babies, families and staff.
