We could say, there is a mental health crisis on our hands - so many sad stories from charities losing funding to established businesses having no more capacity or funding - The demand continues to go up as the level of service and funding continues to go down.

Happy Saturday !
To finish the week of phrases that can make someone feel special …

04/03/2026

A week of phrases that can make people feel special.

5. “I noticed that you…”

Details matter !
They show someone is worth your attention. When you notice that a friend has been working hard on their health goals or a coworker has conquered a new skill or overcome a previous anxiety, sharing your awareness makes them feel valued and encourages continued growth.

Try to observe beyond the obvious. Deep, thoughtful observations show care and genuine interest in others.

4. “I really appreciate how you…”

Specific appreciation is really felt. People hear “thanks” throughout their day without much thought behind it. Identify exactly what you appreciate, so it demonstrates genuine attention and care.

We all like to feel seen and valued for our unique contributions. When we point out specific behaviors or qualities, it shows you’ve been thinking about what makes that person special.

3. “You handled that so well.”

Grace under pressure deserves recognition, yet it often goes unnoticed. Focussing on outcomes can mean we miss the skill and composure required to achieve them.

Difficult situations often reveal character. Managing conflict, responding to criticism, or navigating unexpected challenges well, shows emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Acknowledging these qualities encourages them to continue developing and doing better, building confidence for future challenges.

2: “You have a unique way of…”

Genuinely celebrating and appreciating what makes someone unique is a great way to build connection. Making an effort to honour distinctive approaches and perspectives is emotional intelligence at its finest.

We’ve all heard the saying, “comparison is the thief of joy” but it also diminishes people’s confidence in their own approach when we compare them to or expect them to behave or think the same way as others. Start giving people permission to be authentic rather than trying to copy others.

A week of phrases that can make people feel special.

Phrase 1 :

“I’d really value your perspective on this.”

Opinion-seeking happens constantly in our daily lives, but there’s a difference between polite consultation and genuine interest.

When we ask for someone’s perspective, it shows respect for their intelligence and experience. That their unique viewpoint could be valuable to a situation.

Some people may hesitate to speak up without invitation. Creating space for their thoughts encourages participation and makes them feel appreciated.

𝐀 𝐌𝐢𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐎𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬 ?
Next time you feel annoyed by someone else's actions or words, ask yourself, what it might be revealing about your own feelings, beliefs, or insecurities. Introspection can transform moments of irritation into opportunities for personal insight and growth.
