For a Zimbabwean nurse currently in the UK who wants to move to Australia or New Zealand, the process is very achievable — and actually smoother than applying directly from Zimbabwe. Here's a step-by-step guide for both countries:

---

🇦🇺 Moving to Australia as a Nurse (from UK)

✅ 1. Qualification Recognition

Your nursing qualification from Zimbabwe is likely already assessed and accepted in the UK.

For Australia, you’ll need to apply through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

🔹 AHPRA Requirements:

Proof of registration in Zimbabwe and the UK.

English language test (IELTS or OET) — unless UK registration is accepted as evidence.

Nursing experience and qualifications.

Pathway:
You may be eligible for the Outcome-Based Assessment (OBA) if you’re not from a program accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).

✅ 2. Registration with AHPRA

Create an account at: www.ahpra.gov.au

Submit all documents.

You may be asked to complete a Bridging Program or pass an exam (OBA).

✅ 3. Apply for a Visa

Skilled Independent (subclass 189) or Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) are common.

Employer-Sponsored Visa (482 or 186) is faster if you get a job offer.

---

🇳🇿 Moving to New Zealand as a Nurse (from UK)

✅ 1. Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ)

Since you’re registered and practicing in the UK, you can apply under the Internationally Qualified Nurse (IQN) pathway.

Requirements:

Proof of UK registration

Nursing qualification

Recent nursing practice (within 5 years)

English proficiency (often waived if you worked in the UK)

Apply here: nursingcouncil.org.nz

---

✅ 2. Apply for a Visa

New Zealand has made nursing a Green List Tier 1 occupation, meaning:

Straight-to-residence visa is available if you have a job offer

Or apply for Accredited Employer Work Visa first, then residence

---

🔑 Key Benefits of Applying from the UK:

You’re already working in an English-speaking system

You have easier access to UK documents, tests, and references

You may not need further English testing

You’re more attractive to employers in NZ or Australia

---

✳️ Tip:

Connect with NZ or Aussie recruitment agencies — they can help you secure job offers and sponsor your visa.

Look for roles in public hospitals, aged care, or rural health — they often sponsor international nurses.

Here are 5 lessons from The Diary of a CEO: The 33 Laws of Business and Life by Steven Bartlett (Author)

1. Embrace your uniqueness and don't compare yourself to others
Bartlett encourages us to focus on our strengths and individuality, rather than comparing ourselves to others.

2. Take calculated risks and embrace failure as a learning opportunity
The book teaches us to take bold action and view failure as a chance to learn and grow.

3. Build a strong team and empower them to make decisions
Bartlett stresses the importance of surrounding yourself with talented people and giving them the autonomy to make decisions.

4. Focus on the process, not just the outcome
The author reminds us to prioritize the journey and enjoy the process, rather than just fixating on the end result.

5. Stay adaptable and open to change
Bartlett encourages us to be agile and responsive to shifting circumstances, rather than getting stuck in our ways.
