🖐️ Five of the easy peasy, and super nourishing meals I’ve been offering my little ones recently (as life has been esp hectic!).

👉 What we feed our little ones is really important, but it doesn’t need to mean making every meal from scratch or sacrificing your sanity.

🙂 Finding some simple nourishing meals that work for each individual child and family I support in the Little Nutrition clinic is a really important part of what I do. Because I totally get that the mental burden can just be pretty wild.

👋 Each week, I’ll be sharing some of the top ‘Weaning Wins’ from the Little Nutrition clinic.

🙂 Each win is a step the families I work with take towards feeling super confident that they are weaning their baby in the way that’s right for THEM - all babies, and all weaning journeys, are totally unique 💫

😌 I know firsthand how stressful and overwhelming feeding and weaning our babies can be but honestly? It’s stress you don’t need, and it really doesn’t need to be this way.

🖊️ To learn more about the plan I have that supports families to wean with ease and confidence, DM me ‘LITTLE WEAN’ and let’s chat.

🤷‍♀️ Feeling a bit stuck at the pureed food stage is a common challenge. Many of the families I support in clinic go through phases where it feels like there’s no progress, and more solid/lumpier foods are being refused, causing gagging or repeatedly being spat out.

👉 Whilst these are ALL very normal during weaning, gradual texture progression can be a really helpful tool, allowing babies to slowly get used to lumps.

👶🏽 🥣 So, here are 4 of my favourite ways to support very gradual texture progression, by taking pureed foods and adding a little bit of something for texture (and extra nutrition, too!).

⭐️ Save for later, and share with a friend who’d like these simple ideas too.

😔 The questions about weaning, and the uncertainty it makes us feel as parents, can be relentless.

👉🤍 To help make things a little easier, here’s some weaning true or false - as always, evidence-based.

❌ No, you DON’T have to completely avoid salt in the weaning diet.

❌ You DON’T have to introduce every new food separately either.

✔️ You DO need to focus on iron-rich foods, to stop iron-deficiency in your baby.

❌ But you DON’T (and shouldn’t!) need to wait for them to cut teeth before offering finger foods.

👉 Do any of these surprise you?

👶🏽 🥣 🥦 Which other weaning topics would you love to see in a ‘true or false’ post? Let me know!

⭐️ And share with a friend who’s weaning their little one 🙂

👶🏽👶🏼Do you have a plant-based baby? Or maybe your family include meat, but your baby doesn’t seem to like it? And you’re left worrying they’re not getting enough protein.

👉 I totally get it, and I know that lots (and lots!) of families will relate to this too.

🌱 But the great news is that meat doesn’t need to be included in the weaning diet for babies to get plenty of great protein. There are LOADS of other great sources too.

⭐️ If you’re worried about your little one’s diet and would love some expert support to get super confident with it, head over to the Little Nutrition website (link in bio) to explore the range of Packages and Power Hours - they have all been carefully designed to provide families with EXACTLY what’s needed to feel confident they are getting their little one’s nutrition right.

🥕 Whilst many of us will start weaning with pureed veggies, it’s super important to start including protein-rich foods early on, too.

👶🏽 And, whilst lots of parents do try to focus on protein, many of the families I meet in the Little Nutrition clinic tell me their LO struggles with the chewier texture of some protein sources.

👍 So, here are 6 of my favourite protein sources for weaning - all packed with protein as well as many other important nutrients too, and all perfect textures for early on in the weaning journey.

⭐️ Cannelinni beans

⭐️ Almond butter

⭐️ Wholewheat pasta

⭐️Tofu

⭐️Black beans

⭐️Oats

💫 Some little highlights from my Easter break, and an all-important reminder that Instagram never shows the full picture.

😌 I’ve had a longer break than I’d planned to, with lots going on at home that’s taken me a while to process.

💕 So my Easter highlights come with a little reminder to be gentle to yourself in the moments that feel difficult, whatever the context.

👉 I’ve got lots coming up for you over the next week or so with weaning tips, an amazing success story from the Little Nutrition clinic and lots more.

👉 Protein is a nutrient that gets SO much airtime. And whilst it is super important for your little one, it’s very rare that babies aren’t getting enough of it in their weaning diets.

👉 On the other hand, iron, iodine and omega-3 (just to name a few) are much more likely to be lacking, but often aren’t really considered.

⭐️ This is a really good example of nutrition hype vs nutrition research, and it can be so hard for parents to work out what they should be focusing on to get feeding right for their little one.
