🎶 Choir Practice & Afternoon Tea at Rubislaw Park Care Home 🎶

Tuesday afternoon brought one of our favourite weekly traditions, as residents gathered upstairs in the main dining room for choir practice followed by afternoon tea. ✨

There was a wonderful atmosphere as residents came together for a joyful sing along, filling the room with familiar songs, laughter and plenty of smiles. Music has such a special way of bringing people together, supporting memory, mood and connection, and it was lovely to see everyone so engaged and enjoying the moment.💕

Following choir, residents relaxed and enjoyed a well earned afternoon tea, with a selection of tea, coffee and fresh bakes from the kitchen, alongside some of the treats they had chosen themselves during their morning walk. ☕💛

It made the experience even more meaningful, giving residents that sense of involvement, choice and continuity throughout the day, from picking their items in the morning to enjoying them together in the afternoon.✨️

There was plenty of chatting, laughter and a real sense of togetherness, as everyone sat back, relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company.💕

A truly lovely afternoon of music, connection and simple pleasures shared together. 🎶✨

🌿 Tending to Our Plants at Rubislaw Park Care Home 🌿

Also on Tuesday morning, some of our residents spent time outdoors watering and tending to our plants, making the most of the fresh air and brighter spring weather. 🪴✨

There was such a calm and peaceful atmosphere as residents took their time caring for the plants, gently watering, checking on new growth and helping keep our outdoor spaces looking beautiful. With everything beginning to bloom again, it’s a lovely time of year to be outside, watching nature come back to life.🪴💕

Residents really enjoyed being involved, taking pride in the space and contributing in a meaningful way. Activities like this offer a wonderful sense of purpose and routine, while also allowing residents to remain connected to something familiar and rewarding.🪴✨️

Gardening is so beneficial for wellbeing, encouraging gentle movement, supporting coordination and offering a chance to slow down and be present in the moment. It can also spark fond memories of past gardens and routines, bringing a sense of comfort and nostalgia.🪴💕

There was plenty of quiet conversation and shared enjoyment, with residents appreciating both the activity itself and the peaceful surroundings.🪴✨️

🌸 A Spring Morning Walk at Rubislaw Park Care Home 🌸

Tuesday morning began with a lovely walk out in the sunshine, as a few of our residents and the Activities Team made the most of the beautiful spring day. ✨

There was such a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere as the group walked around the neighbourhood, taking time to admire the flowers and plants coming back to life, a lovely reminder that spring is well and truly on its way. The simple act of being outdoors, feeling the fresh air and noticing the changing seasons can be so uplifting and grounding.💕

On their way back, they popped into Aldi, where residents enjoyed choosing a few bits for afternoon tea, giving them that familiar and meaningful experience of everyday life, making choices, picking favourites and being part of the process.✨️

And of course… there was a little extra treat! The group couldn’t resist picking up some cute plushie cats, which brought plenty of smiles and laughter, sometimes it’s the smallest, most unexpected moments that bring the greatest joy. 🐱✨

Activities like this are so important, as they support independence, confidence and a sense of normality, allowing residents to continue enjoying the everyday routines many of us take for granted. They also encourage social interaction, mobility and connection to the wider community, all while creating meaningful and joyful experiences.💕

🛠️ Men’s Shed Morning joined by Rubislaw Park Care Home 🛠️

Also on Monday morning, some of our gentlemen enjoyed attending a Men’s Shed meeting in Bridge of Don, a fantastic opportunity to get out, connect and spend time together in a relaxed and welcoming environment. ✨

The Bridge of Don Men’s Shed is a wonderful local community group, created to bring people together, reduce social isolation and support mental and physical wellbeing. It offers a space where people can meet, share skills, enjoy activities and simply have a chat all in a friendly, supportive setting. 💕

During the session, residents enjoyed a cup of tea, a game of dominoes and plenty of easy-going conversation, creating that familiar, comfortable atmosphere where everyone feels included. It’s those simple moments, sitting together, sharing stories and having a laugh that mean so much.✨️

We were also delighted to meet residents from Woodlands, one of our sister homes, making it a lovely chance to build new friendships and connections beyond our own community. It was great to spend time together, and we’re already looking forward to meeting again.💕

The morning was full of laughter, humour and genuine camaraderie, with everyone leaving in great spirits. Activities like this are so important, supporting confidence, social connection and a strong sense of belonging, while also giving residents something meaningful to be part of.✨️

🐣 Easter Raffle & Bonnet Contest at Rubislaw Park Care Home 🐣

Monday afternoon brought one of the highlights of our Easter celebrations, our much loved annual Easter raffle and bonnet contest and what a truly wonderful and memorable afternoon it was! ✨

The main dining room was filled with a warm and lively atmosphere, as residents, staff, family and friends all came together to celebrate. There was such a strong sense of community, connection and joy, with everyone enjoying the chance to spend quality time together and be part of something special.💕

Residents proudly showcased their beautiful Easter bonnets, each one carefully created and completely unique. From bright colours to creative decorations, every design reflected individual personality and flair, and it was clear how much thought, time and effort had gone into each one. The excitement and pride from residents as they shared their creations was truly lovely to see.✨️

Alongside the bonnet contest, our Easter raffle added an extra layer of anticipation and fun. With a fantastic Easter hamper up for grabs, there was plenty of excitement as the draw took place and we are delighted that one of our lovely residents was the lucky winner. A very well-deserved prize that brought lots of smiles! 🎁

Guests were able to relax and enjoy the afternoon with cheese and wine served, creating a calm and social setting where everyone could chat, laugh and celebrate together. It was one of those afternoons where the room was simply filled with happiness, conversation and togetherness.💕

A huge congratulations to all of our Easter bonnet and raffle winners, and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon so special. Your presence truly made a difference.✨️

🌿 A Morning Walk at Rubislaw Park Care Home 🌿

Monday morning saw some of our residents head out with the Activities Team for a lovely walk around the local area, enjoying the fresh air and a gentle, positive start to the day. ✨

There was a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere as the group made their way through the neighbourhood, taking time to chat, look around and enjoy being out and about together. While on their walk, they popped into the local Co-op to pick up some of their favourite snacks and treats, adding a fun and personal touch to the outing.💕

Residents really enjoyed having the opportunity to choose their own items, supporting independence and giving that familiar, everyday experience of popping to the shops. It’s these simple moments that can feel the most meaningful, bringing a sense of normality, routine and connection to the wider community.✨️

There was plenty of laughter, conversation and shared enjoyment throughout, with everyone taking their time and going at a pace that suited them.💕

Outings like this are so beneficial, supporting mobility, confidence, decision making and social interaction, while also helping residents stay connected to the world around them.✨️

🐣 Wishing Everyone a Wonderful Easter from Rubislaw Park Care Home 🐣

Easter Sunday was such a special for our residents, as our Activities Manager and her grandchildren took the time to go around the home delivering Easter eggs to everyone from Rubislaw Park.✨

It was a truly lovely gesture, with each resident receiving their own treat, shared with warmth, kindness and big smiles. The presence of the grandchildren added something extra special, creating beautiful intergenerational moments that brought so much joy to the day.💕

You could see how much it meant to residents, not just the Easter eggs themselves, but the thoughtfulness, time and personal connection behind them. Moments like this create such a strong sense of community, care and togetherness within the home.✨️

There was a real feeling of celebration and kindness, making Easter Sunday feel extra meaningful for everyone involved.💕

Friday’s Happy Hour at Rubislaw Park Care Home was filled with even more fun and energy as we enjoyed the classic feel good tune Beautiful Sunday, a song that always brings smiles and gets feet moving! ✨

This crowd‑favourite has a special place in Scottish hearts, and many of us love dancing the traditional Slosh as demonstrated wonderfully by our fabulous activities team.💕

In this video you can see residents and staff dancing, clapping and enjoying the moment, it truly captured the joy, rhythm and togetherness that music brings to our community. 💛

What a magical moment we captured during Friday’s Happy Hour, here’s a video of the incredible Khristine performing the timeless classic Can’t Take My Eyes Off You! ✨

Her voice carried so much emotion, warmth and joy, and you can feel the room light up in this performance. Residents, families, staff and friends were all drawn in by the beautiful melody and heartfelt lyrics, many singing along, smiling, and completely immersed in the moment. 💛
