I'm heading down to run a fully booked retreat, and fitting in a hypnotherapy intensive for myself while I'm there, because I do the work too.

While I'm in the area, I'm offering a handful of in-person 1:1 sessions for anyone who's exhausted, overwhelmed, or just quietly done with running on empty.

She couldn't switch off. Even at home. Even at weekends.

Sandy was a lead practice nurse — dedicated, capable, holding her team together through some really difficult dynamics.

I spent 22 years in the NHS giving everything to everyone.

Patients. Colleagues. My family. My team.

I was brilliant at it.

And it nearly destroyed me.

By 2008, burnout had triggered an autoimmune condition. My marriage had ended. And I was standing in the wreckage of a life I'd built entirely around other people, with no idea who I was without it.

Sometimes the most exhausting part of the week is not what you did.

It is what you agreed to that you never really wanted in the first place.

So many people-pleasers are not saying yes because they want to.

They are saying yes because no feels uncomfortable, guilty, or selfish.

What is one thing you said yes to recently that you really did not want to do?

You do not need to explain it fully if you do not want to. A word or short answer is enough.

I'm travelling 500 miles from Aberdeenshire to Yorkshire next month and wow I am looking forward to it....

I've loved Yorkshire for years. The Dales, the wildness, the big open space, the warmth of the people. It just feels like somewhere you can breathe properly.

I've run this retreat before in the Peak District, and it was brilliant. This time I'm bringing it to Yorkshire, to make it more accessible for people across the north of England.

Any excuse to spend more time in the Dales, honestly.

Three days. Coaching, caving, walking in nature and time in a spa.

We start with coaching: getting clear and honest about what's actually going on.

Then we go underground. Into an actual cave. Helmets, headtorches, expert guides. The full thing.
