Evidence of common nettle has been found at archaeological sites from the Mesolithic period. This means that Nettle was one of the early plants to grow here. We can't say for definate that the people were using it as medicine during these times, though. I often hear people saying that the Romans brought Nettles here, clearly they didn't, but it is thought that they brought a variety of Nettle that they used at home with them, in which case it must have been a very important herb for them. So perhaps it was the Romans who taught us how to use nettle as medicine, or perhaps we were already using it. But either way Nettle has been on these lands for a very long time, think about what they've seen and what they can teach us if we pause to listen.
