Happy Winter Solstice and Shab-e-Yalda, the longest night of the year. Traditionally across cultures this night was celebrated by sitting in community with family, eating, talking, singing, lights, and candles to share the longest night and bring in the light. It is a time to remember the ancestors, calling in the ancient mothers.

Our herbal care packs have gone out to women in supported housing as a wee suprise Christmas present.

Inside the packs were: lip balm and hand cream for the cold weather, decongestion aroma sniffer sticks, relaxing aroma-roll-on, digestive tea, and empty tea bags.

As always, your help is very much appreciated and needed. You can support our work by buying a pay-it-forward herbal care pack, which will be gifted to someone in need. You can do this in our online shop at www.movementinthyme.com

This blend has mostly Calendula infused olive oil for its gentle wound healing properties and a small amount of liquorice infused olive oil for its helpful topical effects on calming and moistening itchy, irritated tissues.

We’re thrilled to be collaborating with this year’s and the University of York!

🍁 Unearthing Herbal Histories with Digital Archives 🍁

Throughout history, women have been the caregivers and healers of their communities — custodians of wellbeing and connection. Yet, many of their names and contributions have been lost to time. This immersive herbal crafting workshop invites you to rediscover their stories through the lens of digital archives, exploring how archaeological records of plant remains from York, preserved by the Archaeology Data Service and Heritage Science Data Service, reveal the deep relationship between women, healing, and the natural world.

I will be there in my role as

✨ Free Workshop — tickets available via CLIQ or the link in our bio.
📍 The Belfrey Hall, 52a Stonegate, York
⏰ 6–9pm
📆 14 November 2025
👭 In partnership with Archaeology Data Service, Heritage Science Data Service, The Girls Club (York), and the Being Human Festival.

Yesterday we were at in Maryhill ✨ at their Family Support Group session ✨

We explored the benefits of incorporating herbs into our daily diets, herbs for mental wellbeing, and how fermentation can support gut health and overall wellbeing 💛

Everyone had some herbal hot chocolate and left inspired, and with a jar of their own herbal sauerkraut.

Get in contact of you want a herbal workshop for your group.
