Evidence of common nettle has been found at archaeological sites from the Mesolithic period. This means that Nettle was one of the early plants to grow here. We can't say for definate that the people were using it as medicine during these times, though. I often hear people saying that the Romans brought Nettles here, clearly they didn't, but it is thought that they brought a variety of Nettle that they used at home with them, in which case it must have been a very important herb for them. So perhaps it was the Romans who taught us how to use nettle as medicine, or perhaps we were already using it. But either way Nettle has been on these lands for a very long time, think about what they've seen and what they can teach us if we pause to listen.

In tonights full moon ritual in the online membership site, you are invited into the use of sound as a way to connect with the womb and emotions and to free the voice and reweave the divine feminine. We will also be working with this in the in-person circle on 19th Sept as sound is such a powerful healing tool.
How have you worked with sound to heal and awaken the divine feminine?

Our autumn women's circle will celebrate the harvest and the end of summer, working with the energies of water and the west. As we cross the threshold into the circle space we can imagine stepping into a liminal space, the imaginary ancient women's house, with the drum, conscious-shifting and blessing herbs, ochre body paint, and the proto-celtic bone language shifting us into this altered space. There will be space for a sharing circle and an ancestral guided journey to the medicine house. Our sacred craft this circle will be focused on the divine feminine.

Please join me in this women's circle of ritual, of earth magic, herbs, intuition, and discovery.

Did you know that banana leaves are used as wrapping for food and to store vegetables as they increase the shelf life of products. So there is no need for plastic wrap and certainly no need for bananas to be in plastic bags on supermarket shelves.

They are not grown on trees but on herbaceous (no woody stem) flowering plants with berries (the banana)!

Bananas are a staple in the country, with most of the bananas used domestically, rather than exported.

The situation in DRCongo continues to be difficult. The banks in the M23 controlled areas of Kivu have been closed, meaning that people are struggling to pay for anything, whilst food prices have soared and crime risen and some people have been forced out of jobs as they simply can't be paid.

If you want to help women in the DRCongo to grow crops, start a business, and be active in the peace process please donate a little here: https://gogetfunding.com/emergency-humanitarian-response-in-goma-north-kivu/

The separation from the land was a deliberate action. People who can't hear the voice of the land, who can't read the flight of the birds and hear the song of the wind, are more amenable to extracting from and plundering the land.

Colonial systems of medicine extract single components out of plants whilst simultaneously trying to destroy and discredit healing modalities that use whole plants. We are taught that pharmaceutical medicines are always superior to herbal remedies using whole plants, even though this isn't the case. Plant medicines have been used for centuries. The clinical data to support their use may not always be there due to financial priorities and big business, but they have centuries of empirical evidence behind them. The body recognises whole plants.
