Colonial systems of medicine extract single components out of plants whilst simultaneously trying to destroy and discredit healing modalities that use whole plants. We are taught that pharmaceutical medicines are always superior to herbal remedies using whole plants, even though this isn't the case. Plant medicines have been used for centuries. The clinical data to support their use may not always be there due to financial priorities and big business, but they have centuries of empirical evidence behind them. The body recognises whole plants.

Over in the Weaving the Feminine online portal, we are working with the plant Plantain, which is teaching us about resilience and colonialism. We have also been looking at Sylvia Federici's ideas on witchcraft, women and capitalism and how the upper classes embraced the witchcraft propaganda as a tool to subjugate women and the lower class and instill the capitalist, colonial agenda. We have also looked at Ale-wives in medieval Scotland and how their roles in society were reduced and finally taken over around the same time as the witch hunts. Journeying to our medicine house to meet with our ancestral mothers has enabled us to root into our ancestral linegae, whilst going out in nature we have been working to reconnect with our innuition and the animism of nature.

"Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation and that is an act of political warfare" that is not to say that we ignore everything that is happening in the world, on the contrary it is not about individuality. But if we stay in the colonisers' mindset and keep working and fighting with no rest, we end up in burnout, and then we are of no use to anyone. We need to decolonise our our minds.
