Changing your mind : Chronic Pain and the Brain

Dr Sarno was derided and ridiculed in the 1970s by some of his medical colleagues for his outrageous beliefs : "Feelings generated in the unconscious mind can create real physical changes in our bodies. These physical reactions can be stopped if we put our minds to it..."

Roll on 50 years and his beliefs are backed up by fMRI and research studies and there are therapies that are truly safe, effective and backed by medical research.

(Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS) has largely been replaced by the more accurate phrases "neural circuit disorder", "mind body syndrome" or "neuroplastic symptoms".)

There is safe, effective, clinically proven treatment for chronic pain.

Why do we hurt?Do we actually experience pain, or is it merely illusion? In this video, Lorimer Moseley explores these questions, and position the pain that w...

Neuroscience of Pain for Therapists

I had hoped that 6 or 7 therapists would come... but 15 turned up and filled my sunroom! Hypnotherapy, Tai Chi, yoga, Alexander technique, life and wellness coaches, counsellors and massage therapists, a fell running trainer and a GP registrar.

You would not believe how noisy they were! Full of enthusiasm, lots of questions and discussion. Thank you all for coming 😊
