The Ted Senior foundation is a registered UK charity dedicated to assisting individuals who face challenges related to their mental health and working to prevent su***de. As temperatures look to be on the rise again next week, please make sure that you are protecting your family’s eyes from harmful UV rays 🕶️

Did you know only 3 in 10 children always wear sunglasses on sunny days?

New research shows that over half of parents aren’t fully protecting their children’s eyes from UV damage, with many mistakenly believing a hat offers the same protection as sunglasses.

Children’s eyes are more vulnerable to UV rays, and long-term exposure can lead to problems later in life. That’s why we’re raising awareness of the importance of proper UV eye protection.

To support our campaign, we’re highlighting key tips for protecting young eyes:

✅ Pair them with a wide-brimmed hat
✅ Book regular NHS eye tests from 3-4 years old

We are entering an exciting new phase!

As an ever growing practice, we are pleased to share that we have successfully secured a larger facility for our Brynmawr clinic, and Nia has collected the key! 🔑🍾🥂

Many of you will already be familiar with our new location at what was formerly the beautiful furniture store in Brynmawr. It occupies a spacious double unit at 48 Beaufort Street, directly across from our current location.

The challenging task of converting this space into a fully operational clinic for the community is about to begin!👷🛠️

Our Brynmawr practice will remain operational at 17 Beaufort Street, until the new clinic is ready for use.

Following the launch of our Thursday teach and treat clinic in March, Williams and Parry have been recognised as an advanced training practice via the Trainer Recognition process by Health Education and Improvement Wales 👏🏻

We manage and deliver postgraduate education, mentoring and professional development to ensure the profession's growth and prepare future optometrists to deliver high-quality primary care. 👁️‍🗨️ TEACH AND TREAT CLINIC LAUNCH 👁️‍🗨️

Williams and Parry are proud to announce our collaboration with Cardiff University in our continuing commitment to advancing eye healthcare and optometry education in Wales. We are pleased to introduce the launch of a ‘Teach And Treat Clinic’, which will be held every Thursday afternoon at our Beaufort Street Brynmawr Practice. Patients will require a referral in order to attend the clinic for urgent/emergency eye treatment. In this clinic, qualified optometrists who have chosen to engage in higher education placements will conduct clinical assessments under the guidance of our independent prescribing supervisor Gareth Williams. They will establish diagnoses and determine the necessary clinical management, including prescribing where appropriate. This arrangement offers essential training within a clinical environment, equipping optometrists with the necessary skills to deliver an expanded range of eye care services within their communities. Furthermore, this initiative contributes to reducing hospital waiting times for patients requiring urgent and emergency eye care, while also supporting the evolving roles of optometrists in Wales.
