🏥 Help shape the future of Tywyn Community Hospital

The inpatient ward at Tywyn Hospital has been temporarily closed since April 2023 due to ongoing challenges with safely staffing the service. While there’s been some progress in recruitment, wider workforce issues still affect the ward’s safe and sustainable delivery.

Since the closure, we’ve worked with local partners to strengthen alternative services, including expanding beds in Dolgellau, launching a new community-based service (Tuag Adref), reopening the Minor Injuries Unit, and establishing a Treatment Room and a Wellbeing Hub.

We're now starting a formal review of services at Tywyn to explore all options for the future — including the potential to reopen the ward or provide care in other high-quality, sustainable ways.

📣 We want to hear from you. If you live or work locally, please share your views in our short online survey. Your feedback will help shape early thinking and guide next steps.

The agreement commits to a partnership in several areas, including research and development, developing educational programmes and pooling expertise and use of specialist facilities.

We will also work together on enterprise and innovation and collaborate with industry on the development of new devices and technology.
