Many people find themselves eating late at night, even when they are not hungry.

Night-time eating has been linked to excess calorie intake, developing obesity, and poor health.

Here are 7 ways to help you stop eating at night
.

1. Identify the cause
Night-time eating can be caused by boredom, hunger, binge eating disorder and night-time eating syndrome. Identifying the cause can help you take the right steps to solve the problem.

2. Use a routine
Having a routine for meal and sleep times can help you break unhealthy cycles of behaviour. This can help if you have no appetite during the day or tend to binge at night.

3. Plan your meals
Planning your meals and snacks can help manage your food intake and stave off hunger.

4. Seek emotional support
For some people with eating disorders, seeking professional help and support can be key to overcoming problematic eating at night.

5. De-Stress
Instead of eating, try to deal with stress and anxiety using relaxation techniques, gentle exercise, or stretching.

6. Eat regularly throughout the day
Eating regular meals will prevent you from getting too hungry and will help you manage your cravings and food impulses. Do not skip meals!

7. Distract yourself
If you are eating out of boredom, then try finding something else you enjoy doing in the evening to keep your mind occupied.

This is a typical menu for Step 2 on The 1:1 Diet.

It’s all about balance, nourishment, and enjoying delicious meals while working towards your goals this is approx. 800 calories per day with a combination of The 1:1 Diet products and 200 calories of regular food.

Remember, everyone’s tastes are different, so it’s important to find what works best for you. This is just a glimpse of what Step 2 could look like.

Sam started her journey with me on The 1:1 Diet back in March 2024, determined to lose weight while training for the Great North Run.

After trying other diets without success, we put a personalised plan in place—starting on a lower step and gradually increasing her calories as her training intensified.

Sam’s dedication paid off! Not only did she lose nearly 3 stone, but she also crushed her goal of running 13 miles—something she hadn’t done in a long time!

Here are some healthy tips to help you stay on track with your diet this Sunday.

✹Rise and shine with a glass of warm lemon water to kickstart your metabolism and hydrate your body.
✹Plan your meals for the day ahead. Using your products and prepare a balanced menu that includes lean proteins, plenty of veggies, and whole grains.
✹Make time for a refreshing walk or workout.
✹Stay hydrated by sipping on herbal teas or infused water infused with fruits and herbs. It’ll keep you feeling refreshed and curb unnecessary cravings.
✹Treat yourself to a guilt-free dessert. Whip up a batch of homemade fruit popsicles, a refreshing fruit salad, or indulge in a small piece of dark chocolate.
✹Practice mindful eating. Savour each bite, chew slowly, and listen to your body’s hunger and fullness cues.
