These postural changes increase the risk of sacral/pelvic imbalance at any given time. The bones of the pelvis and the supportive network of ligaments, tendons, muscles, and associated nerves are all under constant pressure and change. The resulting torsion and inflammation of imbalanced muscles and ligaments may then prevent the baby from comfortably assuming the best possible position for their birthing.

🌟 Embrace the Power of Breath 🌬️✨

Whether you're preparing for birth or simply seeking calm in your daily life, the magic of breath can really helo. Here are a few techniques to help you harness that power:

1️⃣ Deep Belly Breaths: Inhale deeply through your nose, allowing your belly to expand like a balloon. Feel the air fill you up, then exhale slowly, releasing any tension or stress. Repeat this for a few cycles to instantly relax.

2️⃣ 4-7-8 Technique: Breathe in for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 7, and then exhale slowly for a count of 8. This technique is a game-changer for calming the nervous system.

3️⃣ Alternate Nostril Breathing: Cover your right nostril with your thumb, inhale through your left nostril, then release your thumb and cover your left nostril with your ring finger as you exhale through the right nostril. Repeat on both sides. It's fantastic for balance and focus.

Remember, these techniques aren’t just for labourβ€”they're for life! Practice them regularly for mindfulness. Your breath is a powerful tool; use it to find peace and strength within. πŸ’«

Is your baby due in December?πŸŽ„πŸŽ…β˜ƒοΈ

So many pregnant Mamas can feel extra pressure when their 'due date' falls during the festive period. Pressure to accept induction over the Christmas period can definitely ramp up!

Pressure to have had the baby and be back home in time for the big day and maybe the added stress of feeling like Christmas needs to go ahead as usual, having lots of family around, possibly cooking for them, and the whole family dropping around to meet the new baby.

Here are some top tips to survive and enjoy the festive period :

πŸŽ„Take the pressure off yourself to commit to a big family get-together
πŸŽ„If you are spending it with family, make sure you have a safe and quiet space you can disappear to with the baby if you need some time to yourself or for some skin-to-skin / to feed / to sleep or rest.
πŸŽ„Let everyone else do the organising, shopping and cooking, whether it's at your house or theirs
πŸŽ„There can be a tendency for everyone to want to hold the baby and to 'give you a break'. If that's what you want, then ok, but it might be you want to keep your baby close to you; the best help might be that everyone helps by looking after you and enabling you to rest with your baby.

Communication is vital, and now is an excellent time to have those conversations with family about how they can best support you to ensure you all have a lovely Christmas and newborn period.
