Dedicated 1:1 live-in carers help elderly parents and vulnerable adults to stay happy and safe in their own home. Mumby’s is a family-owned business run by Ann Mumby – a Registered Nurse with 20 years of experience running a nursing and care agency. Before setting up Mumby’s, Ann ran a branch of one of the major home care providers in Berkshire, it was here that she realised she could provide a better standard of care to her clients through her own care company and Mumby’s was created. Based near Abingdon, Oxfordshire Mumby's serves clients in Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Herts, Northants, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Wiltshire, Surrey and London. As a live-in care specialist, Mumby's provides live-in services on a short or long term basis for the elderly, especially those suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s. We also help adults with physical and mental disabilities as well as people needing post-operative care at home and cancer support. Respite care for carers is a popular service. Many clients trust our warm and compassionate carers to take care of their loved ones whilst they take a much-needed break and relax. Mumby's are registered with Care Quality Commission and are rated OUTSTANDING. Maybe you need some help while your family or live-in carer is away, or to recuperate after hospitalisation in your own home. Our trained staff will be on call whenever you need them. We have specialist carers that can provide care to high dependency clients. To make life as simple as possible we offer a fully managed service where we assume all employment responsibilities relating to remuneration, tax, national insurance deductions and DBS checks for our carers and 24/7 on call advice and support. Our live-in care 2-week trial allows you to try our outstanding live-in care and make an informed decision for your loved one without any long-term commitment. You can simply book a free care assessment.

Ahead of Day on the 5th of February, the conversation at Mumby’s begins with supporting our incredible carers.

In this video, our CEO Ann Mumby shares how we support our team to prevent burnout. Being a live-in carer requires immense emotional strength, and we believe you can’t pour from an empty cup.

Through regular wellbeing checks and support support, we ensure our carers never feel they are walking the path alone. When our team feels heard and supported, they can provide the "Outstanding" care our families rely on.

Last week at the Care Show, we had the privilege of meeting the inspiring Nina Parry. Nina is the force behind Nina’s Law, a campaign very close to our hearts at Mumby’s.

When a person with complex needs goes into hospital, the loss of their regular carer can be distressing and even dangerous. Nina’s Law aims to change the rules so that professional carers can continue to provide essential, familiar support alongside NHS staff during hospital stays.

We believe everyone deserves the dignity of continuity of care. Please join us in supporting Nina by signing and sharing her petition today!

The Mumby’s crew ditched the usual look for Salisbury Hospice Flowers & Flip-flops Day, and we hope we understood the assignment. Our team had everything from floral prints shirts to bright and colourful aprons.

Extra points to Melanie, whose LEGO bouquet is the only set of flowers we haven’t managed to wilt yet!

That's a wrap on the Care Show Swindon!
Isabelle and Melanie have had a truly wonderful day representing Mumby’s Live-in Care. Beyond the innovation and the industry buzz, our favorite part was the lovely discussions we had with families. It was a privilege to speak with so many people looking for the best possible care for their loved ones. We know how big a decision this is, and we loved being able to offer some guidance and support!

Until next time!

Isabelle and Melanie are currently having a wonderful time representing Mumby’s Live-in Care at the Care Show Swindon today, where they have the opportunity to meet the people who make our local care community so special.

We caught up with Dawid from Swindon and Wiltshire Innovative Technology Care Hub. We love their mission to upskill the sector through the Swindon & Wiltshire Innovative Technology Care Hub, using incredible tech like virtual reality to train the next generation of healthcare professionals.

We also couldn't resist a hello (and a snuggle) with Vino the pony, thanks to Laura Stewart from Happy Hooves Equine Ltd - Equine Assisted Therapy & Transport, who introduced us. Happy Hooves does amazing work bringing therapeutic animal visits directly to people’s homes and care settings, providing comfort and joy to those who need it most.

We hope to see you there today!

Today, January 28th, is World Lewy Body Dementia Day. While many have heard of Alzheimer’s, Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) is actually the second most common type of progressive dementia, yet it remains one of the most frequently misdiagnosed.

At Mumby’s Live-in Care, we know that an LBD diagnosis brings unique challenges. It affects the memory, impacts movement, sleep, and can cause fluctuations in alertness that can be confusing for both the individual and their family.

People living with LBD often experience "good days and bad days" that can shift by the hour. Understanding these symptoms is the first step toward providing the right environment and specialized support.

Our dedicated live-in carers are trained to look beyond the diagnosis, focusing on:
✨ Consistency: Providing a stable routine to manage cognitive fluctuations.
✨ Safety: Supporting mobility and reducing the risk of falls.
✨ Dignity: Ensuring our clients feel seen, heard, and respected every single day.

Learn the signs, the symptoms, and how we can support your loved ones in the comfort of their own home.

On Friday, January 30th, Mumby’s is going "Full Summer" to support the Salisbury Hospice Charity’s Flip-Flops and Flowers day! We’re inviting all our wonderful carers, clients, and office staff to ditch the winter blues and dress in your brightest florals and favorite flip-flops.

The Best Part? For every person who joins in, Mumby’s will donate £1.00 to Salisbury Hospice Charity!

Whether you’re in the office or out in the community, snap a photo of your colorful outfit and send it to us. We’ll be sharing a gallery of our "Floral Heroes" online to spread the warmth.

Note: You can still fully participate by wearing floral shirts, bright scarves, or even pinning a paper flower to your uniform! It’s all about the bright colors and the spirit of the day.

We were so moved by this quote from a VCI participant: “I’ve made friends I never thought I’d have at my age... Life would be very lonely otherwise.” At Mumby's, we see the magic that happens when seniors stay connected. That’s why our live-in carers do more than just help at home: they are companions out in the world! Our carers ensure our clients have the transport, physical support, and confidence to stay active and engaged, whether it’s attending a local VCI pop-up café or joining a community hobby group.

Loneliness is optional when we work together. Check out the amazing work VCI is doing, and if you need a professional hand to help a loved one maintain their independence, we’re here to help.

💬 “Since coming to VCI events, I’ve made friends I never thought I’d have at my age. It gives me something to look forward to, and I leave smiling. Life would be very lonely otherwise.”

Our Good Neighbour Scheme volunteers bring warmth and friendship to those who need it most—through phone calls, visits, pop-up café events and practical help like shopping.

Want to join our amazing team? Or know someone who could benefit from this support?

Feeling guilty about ‘outsourcing’ your parent’s care?

It’s one of the most difficult hurdles a family can face: the feeling that you should be the one doing it all. But is "doing it all" actually what’s best for your parent or for you?

In this video, Ann Mumby, our CEO, addresses the common struggle of caregiver guilt and why choosing professional support isn't "outsourcing" your love, it's prioritising your parent’s safety and your relationship with them.

Learn how professional support allows you to go back to being a son or daughter, rather than just a carer.

Choosing help doesn't mean you are giving up. Instead, you're stepping up to ensure they have the best care possible.

We recently received a powerful testimonial highlighting the impact of our live-in carers on post-stroke recovery. The family noted that our team’s presence was pivotal to their mother's progress, even describing our carers as "Angels" who brought life and laughter into the household during a challenging time.

This reminds us that the best recovery outcomes happen when clinical excellence meets genuine human companionship.
