Are you part of the ‘sandwich generation’

I have clients who come to me who are part of the ‘sandwich generation’.

This is the stage at which middle aged adults may be dealing with the constant needs of two generations. Their aging parents and their children/grandchildren.

There can be many challenges:-

You may be a carer in some capacity.

Your children may need you (young or adult).

Regularly travelling near or far to help out.

You have a full time or part-time job.

You may have recently become a grandparent

Or trying to juggle both (parents and children) as well as dealing with a partner’s health.

Moved in with a parent to help them as part of the care team.

Regularly taking time off work to take parent/s to their gp/hospital appointments.

It's a lot to deal with and can take a toll on your mental and physical health. It can be all very time consuming and leave very little time for you. The constant pressure, guilt, stress and worry as well as a lack of support can lead to burnout, high stress and sleepless nights.

Which is why my ladies take regular time out for themselves.

Time for themselves to relax, release tension, breathe, and recharge their batteries.

Do you need to take some time out for you?

Falling in Love with You ❤️

Taking care of ourselves is the best way to boost our mood, energy and self-esteem. Such an important part of our wellness.

If we are not careful we are constantly working on work goals. Saying yes to everything, giving away our energy to everyone and everything except for ourselves.

It’s important to spend time working on our inner selves, so that we can give our best selves to our family, friends and colleagues.

Some suggestions to help you feel great are:-

❤️ Enjoying a relaxing massage or reflexology (face, feet or both).
❤️ Getting cozy for a film night with blankets who doesn’t like a blanket.
❤️ Have a good stretch, dance or take a walk.
❤️ Spend some quality aways from screens.
❤️ Indulge in your favourite hobbies or try something new.
❤️ Cook some nourishing foods.
❤️ Make time to relax.
❤️ Helping someone else. Acts of kindness can help others whilst also helping us to feel good about ourselves.
❤️ Cleaning and tidying up to create a working and living environment you can thrive in. That feeling is so good.
❤️ Planning and organising can help you feel on top of everything in your life. You can arrange exciting future plans and events, so you have something to look forward.
❤️ Purchase craft supplies which you can enjoy and spend time working on at home.
❤️ Treat yourself to small gifts and indulgences.

What are you going to take care of you?

A young female came to see for fertility reflexology. They had been trying to conceive for over a year.

“I decided to try fertility reflexology. As I was struggling to get pregnant and had read online that reflexology can help.

After my first treatment I felt relaxed and calm. More in control of my situation.

Before starting treatments emotionally I felt quite lonely. I didn’t want to tell anyone I was trying for a baby so I felt a bit isolated.

Physically I was suffering from some effects of stress – hair falling out and headaches.

I didn’t think I had anything to lose and it sounded like a good option to try.

I didn’t have any fears. Although I’m quite a ticklish person so worried a bit about flinching, I didn’t feel ticklish at all.

I looked forward to my regular treatments as I found it relaxing. It was helpful to talk to someone and get advice on my situation.

Deciding on regular treatments as I wanted to have a baby and give myself the best possible chance of falling pregnant.

“I was very relaxed and I felt I could be open about my situation.”

After a course of treatments my client was delighted to become pregnant conceiving naturally.

Celebrating 20 years

At the end of last year I received a Certificate of 20 Years Membership with The Association of Reflexologists.

How time flies!

So I thought I would share how I became a reflexologist.

I had been commuting and working in London as a PA. BC (before children) We decided to move to Oxfordshire and had 3 young children. Life was extremely busy and like most mum's I had zero time for myself.

I had been suffering with PMS for some time. It made me feel pretty miserable for 2 weeks of the month. So I went to see my male GP who said I would have to learn to live with it, not very helpful!

I got chatting to a mum at the kids swimming lessons who turned out to be a therapist. I asked her if there was anything she could do to help me. She suggested reflexology and I booked an appointment.

Having read a bit about reflexology I was happy to give it a go. As I was fed up with feeling tired, worn out and miserable.

After my first treatment I felt so much better. Having some time for myself and relaxing. Much to my amazement my sleep improved, my headaches reduced and the awful breast tenderness disappeared. I decided to have a course of treatments and was so impressed with the therapy I decided to train as a reflexologist.

Specialising in Women’s Health working with Maternity, Fertility, and Hormones. I am extremely passionate about the power of holistic therapies helping to relieve stress and help with overall wellbeing.

I love working with client’s helping them feel better.

Taking a break isn’t being selfish. You can’t pour from an empty cup.

It’s okay to stop and watch your favourite programs read a book, catch up with sleep and just do your thing.

Remember you’re just recharging yourself.

Karen Jones Reflexology

I first experienced reflexology for myself when I was suffering with PMS. I got talking to a therapist and decided to get some help with my hormones. I was so impressed with the therapy I decided to train as a reflexologist and loved it!

I have been qualified for 16 years and specialise in Women’s Health working with Pregnancy, Fertility, and Hormones. I am extremely passionate about the power of holistic therapies helping to relieve stress and help with overall wellbeing.

Your treatment should be time out for you to completely “switch off “ your busy mind and unwind, some ‘me time’. Perfect for our busy lifestyles helping to reduce tension, aid relaxation, improve mood, aid sleep and promote wellbeing

You can choose from facial or foot reflexology, my most popular treatment is having them combined. Half your treatment facial and half foot reflexology.
