MissPlaces CIC

MissPlaces CIC MissPlaces supports women’s well-being through a wide range of craft activities and workshops

MissPlaces is a community business which was set up in the summer of 2017. We are a warm, friendly and supportive group, who meet regularly bringing a wide variety of interests, skills, talents and hobbies, to contribute to the economic growth and sustainability of MissPlaces. Members use their skills, both old and new, to make items to sell and just a few to mention are Jewellery, greetings cards, light up bottles and seasonal gifts, but we also sell a range of products which more specialised craft items, bespoke in nature, which can be personalised for commissioning. We have some members who excel at the more traditional home making skills, like sewing, cross stitch, knitting and crocheting. This means we can offer our service to commissioned orders for items which utilizes these skills. We also have a heat press and have recently started doing personalised printing on items. MissPlaces supports each member to be the ‘best they can be’ and aims to create a healthy ethos of well-being and wellness. Our members regularly report that attending MissPlaces has improved their self-confidence and self-esteem, reduced their social isolation, increased their skills set and expanded their friendship group. We welcome all women from all backgrounds and support everyone to reach their potential; harnessing an individual’s ‘special something’ to be more creative, purposeful and inspirational. Every member has their own ‘story’ to tell; many ladies attending MissPlaces have experienced difficult life events, and could have experienced a bereavement, have low self-confidence, low self-esteem, could have anxiety, depression, other mental health issues, or are feeling isolated and lonely. A new member can expect to be welcomed and supported by the Director, who is a Counsellor by profession, who endeavours to offer a friendly listening ear and a brew, to help with meeting the other members and settling in. For an informal chat please make initial contact by sending a private message, email us to hello@missplaces.com or ring the Director on 07513 139930.

Another beautiful lesson for us all indeed 🙏🙏

One evening my mother made dinner after a hard day's work. She put a plate of eggs, salad and burnt toast in front of my father ...

I immediately noticed, the burnt toast .... And, I was waiting to see if he was going to complain about it, but my father started to eat them, smiling and asked me how I spent my day at school ...
My mom apologized to my dad for the burnt toast. I will never forget his response to her: "Honey, I love burnt toast!"

Later when I went to bed and my dad came over to kiss me goodnight, I asked him if he really liked the burnt toast?

He hugged me and said, "Your mother has had a difficult day and she is really tired. She went out of her way to prepare this meal for us, why blame her and hurt her.
Burnt toast never hurt anyone; but words can be very painful! "

We have to know how to appreciate what others do for us, even if it's not perfect, because it's the intention to do well that counts, and no one is perfect.

That night, I learned something important, we should always value the effort people make, even when it’s not perfect. What matters most is the care and love behind their actions.

Nobody is perfect, and that’s okay. Kindness and understanding make our world softer, our homes warmer, and our hearts full. 💖🌻🦋💖🌻🦋

I always hope to 🙏

I just love this 💪🏼

I just love this 💪🏼

Last night mattered 👊🏼👊🏽

Our very first EPiC MEN groups took place, and 14 brave men walked through the door.
For some of them, it was the first men’s group they’ve ever attended.

That takes courage.

There were honest conversations, quiet moments, a few surprises (and there’ll be more next week. It is Christmastime after all 🎄), and most of all a sense that something important has begun.

We’re so grateful to every man who showed up, whether you spoke or just sat and listened. You chose CONNECTION over ISOLATION and that choice matters more than you’ll ever know.

EPiC MEN exists because men deserve spaces that are theirs.
Spaces where there’s no judgement.
Spaces where showing up is enough.

Our aim is bold but simple;
👉 for every man in Wigan and Leigh to have access to support, every day of the week.

And this is just the beginning.

EPiC MEN. EPiC HOPE.
STRONGER TOGETHER.
Same place, next week, and the door stays open.
