MissPlaces CIC

MissPlaces CIC MissPlaces supports women’s well-being through a wide range of craft activities and workshops

MissPlaces is a community business which was set up in the summer of 2017. We are a warm, friendly and supportive group, who meet regularly bringing a wide variety of interests, skills, talents and hobbies, to contribute to the economic growth and sustainability of MissPlaces. Members use their skills, both old and new, to make items to sell and just a few to mention are Jewellery, greetings cards, light up bottles and seasonal gifts, but we also sell a range of products which more specialised craft items, bespoke in nature, which can be personalised for commissioning. We have some members who excel at the more traditional home making skills, like sewing, cross stitch, knitting and crocheting. This means we can offer our service to commissioned orders for items which utilizes these skills. We also have a heat press and have recently started doing personalised printing on items. MissPlaces supports each member to be the ‘best they can be’ and aims to create a healthy ethos of well-being and wellness. Our members regularly report that attending MissPlaces has improved their self-confidence and self-esteem, reduced their social isolation, increased their skills set and expanded their friendship group. We welcome all women from all backgrounds and support everyone to reach their potential; harnessing an individual’s ‘special something’ to be more creative, purposeful and inspirational. Every member has their own ‘story’ to tell; many ladies attending MissPlaces have experienced difficult life events, and could have experienced a bereavement, have low self-confidence, low self-esteem, could have anxiety, depression, other mental health issues, or are feeling isolated and lonely. A new member can expect to be welcomed and supported by the Director, who is a Counsellor by profession, who endeavours to offer a friendly listening ear and a brew, to help with meeting the other members and settling in. For an informal chat please make initial contact by sending a private message, email us to hello@missplaces.com or ring the Director on 07513 139930.

✨ Women’s Health Community Project – Creative Sessions for Women

Let’s SHAPE Our Creativity CIC is hosting a small series of relaxed creative sessions across Wigan. These are calm, welcoming spaces where women can slow down, try a creative activity and spend time together.

Each session explores a different craft. No experience is needed and all materials are provided.

These sessions are also part of a community project exploring women’s experiences of gynaecological health services, including menopause, menstrual health and accessing support. Through creative activities and informal conversation, we hope to better understand the challenges women can face when seeking help and how services could improve.

There is no expectation to share anything personal. You’re welcome to simply enjoy the creative activity.

To help us hear from a range of women, we ask that you book onto one session only.

A £3 booking fee helps secure spaces and reduce no-shows so places can be used by those who would like to attend.

We’re really excited to be launching our second EPiC MEN group this Thursday Leisure United William Foster and this one is right on the doorstep for the men of Ince.

EPiC MEN is all about giving men a place where they can just turn up, have a brew, and talk if they want to. No pressure. No judgement. Just easy conversations and support from other men who understand that life can get heavy sometimes.

Since starting EPiC MEN we’ve seen something powerful happen. Men come once, and then they come back every week. We think when you find a place where you’re welcomed, listened to, and respected, it makes a difference.

This new group means more men can access support closer to home, without having to travel far. Sometimes that’s the difference between reaching out and staying silent.

If you’re a man who’s been feeling low, stressed, overwhelmed, or just needs a place to talk, you’re welcome here.

Just turn up. The kettle will be on. ☕

Because no man should have to carry everything on his own 👊🏼👊🏽

Today the world marks - a moment to celebrate progress, harness the power of collective action, and stand in solidarity with women and girls everywhere.

While many celebrate, we also hold space for those facing conflict, injustice, and the ongoing struggle for . Their courage serves as a salient reminder of why matters.

Together, let’s keep lifting each other up, amplifying voices, and giving support, so women and girls everywhere can gain in moving forward.

This is fantastic – the second of their group sessions for Men 🫂

We’re proper proud to say we’re opening our second EPiC MEN group on Thursday 12th March! 👊🏼👊🏽

When we first started EPiC MEN, we just wanted a space where lads and blokes could turn up, have a brew, and not have to pretend they’re fine.

What’s happened since? Well, it’s been life-changing.

We’ve seen men walk in with heavy shoulder’s, not sure what to expect. And then come back the week after.
And the week after that!

And that’s the thing.
Men don’t just come once. They stay.

Because when you create a space that’s safe, with no judgement, no pressure, and no big speeches, just honest conversations and proper peer support, it absolutely works.

So we’re growing 😃

Our second EPiC MEN group will be at William Foster Playing Fields, where we already run Crisis Harbours on Mondays and Fridays. It’s a brilliant, welcoming building, free parking, good facilities and it already feels like home to us.

We genuinely can’t think of a better place to start the next chapter.

Men’s mental health matters.
And men deserve spaces that feel safe, local, and theirs.

If you’ve been thinking about coming along to EPiC MEN, take this as your sign.

There’ll be a brew waiting for you 👊🏼👊🏽
