On Wednesday 24th September our Arranger Jacqui had the privilege of attending a presentation of 29 Defibrillators which were able to be purchased by the amazing fundraising efforts of The Epsom Medical Fund led by Bess Harding MBE at The Epsom Club.

The presentation was attended by Jimmy White as the guest of honour, along with a demonstration by the manufacturers and by the crash team at Epsom Hospital.

The Epsom Medical Equipment Fund was formed in 1979 and has raised over £6 million to purchase items for Epsom General Hospital ranging from a £17 specially shaped pillow to a £230,000 CT scanner. If you would like to make a donation to the Fund you can do so via the following link:

The most local Crematorium to Walter G Wortt is Woking Crematorium. Woking Crematorium was the first working Crematorium in the UK, founded in 1878, opening in 1885 designed by Edward Clarke. Mrs Pickersgill was cremated in 1885 becoming the first person ever to be cremated legally in the UK; seen by many as the birthplace of Cremation in the UK as we know it today.

The building now stands as a Grade II listed structure, set within beautiful gardens and a lake. Some notable cremations that took place at Woking are that of Alan Turing, Eleanor Marx, Thomas & Florence Hardy along with 13 holders of the Victoria Cross.
