We took one of our oldest residents to an incredible remembrance service at St Georges church in poynton. John was a proud soldier in WWII and throughly enjoyed the service and parade. Later we went for a delicious lunch at a local pub/restraunt. John expressed how perfect the day was.

We enjoyed our first visit from a relaxation therapist, Janet from Relax Generations. She guided an aromadough session which involved making the dough by scratch, then adding a preferred colour and then adding some aromatherapy oil. As everyone kneeded the dough, the relaxing aromas of lavender and bergamot was released into the air, which smelled amazing.

Janet mindfully guided each stage to connect the activity to the senses of sight, touch and smell. The people living here also recalled memories which the smells reminded them of.

Once they made the dough, they could get their creative juice flowing with molding shapes and pressing pattens into the dough. For those who didn't want to make it, pre-made dough was passed around to smell and feel.

We emersed ourselves in Mexican culture and explored the wonders of Mexico in the comfort of our chairs as part of our Celebrating Cultures programme. We learnt about the day of the dead festival and the people living were given a fact file and Mexican related activities.

We had a really fun morning at Hope Green with a game of bingo. The atmosphere was great with everyone helping each other and cheering for each person who got a line. Each winner of a line got a chocolatey prize! Well done to John who got the full house!

Deborah joined us at Hope Green to beautifully sing VE Day songs for the month of Remembrance. We sang along to "The White Cliffs of Dover" and marched our feet to "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" and ended with "We'll Meet Again" as everyone swayed and waved their arms in the air.

We'll be looking forward to more singing by Deborah in December for lots of lovely Christmas themed songs!

This month we welcomed Deborah to Hope Green, dressed in her Halloween themed dress and singing lots of spooky themed songs like "I put a spell on you". She got everyone singing, waving their arms, clapping and dancing in their seats.

The people living at Hope Green enjoy trips out to local groups like Golden Memories, which is a voluntary, fortnightly social support group in Poynton for individuals living with dementia or Alzheimer's and their carers. The group offers a range of activities, including singing, gentle exercise, games, and a shared lunch, in a drop-in format that provides both support and social engagement.

Every Monday and Wednesday the people living here at Hope Green have the opportunity to take part in our more...movement...

Every Monday and Wednesday the people living here at Hope Green have the opportunity to take part in our more...movement sessions led by Lynn. The feedback has been great, with some saying they feel their mobility has improved since attending the sessions!
