Just a (hopefully) final word about this year's flu figures. Despite the 'season' starting early this year and a further rise at the start of November it looks like this year's peak may be passed and won't be as high as last year. Flu is still circulating however and if you are still to have your vaccination we still have a small supply of vaccine we can give you. Please contact reception if you would like to book this in.

Just a reminder that we are not open tomorrow (New Year's day). We will be open again on Friday 2nd January.

Just a reminder that with Christmas coming up that we will be closed for the Bank Holiday days. We are open on Christmas Eve as normal in the morning, but the afternoon will be urgent appointments only. There is a doctor on duty. We will be open again on Monday 29th December.

Please check ASAP whether you will run out of your regular medication during the time we are closed. Please don't be the person running across the car park at 6:29pm on Christmas Eve because they've realised they have none left.

As you may have seen on the news the levels of patients in hospital with Flu has risen sharply in the last couple of weeks. The graph below are the latest figures based on largely hospital testing and after a brief downward trend the numbers are rising again. For some people it can be very serious infection.

We do have a small supply of vaccine still in stock, so if you are in one of the eligible groups and haven't had it yet please contact us to come and have it done as soon as possible.

We know it is still November however our tree is a reminder that it's four weeks until Christmas Day. So if you are ordering your medication around now you might need to think about ordering early to take you over the holiday period. Due to how Christmas falls this year we will be closed for four days, so please double check you won't run out when we are closed.

As you will have seen in the news the early rise in Flu cases in the UK has continued into November. There are concerns that this years peak may be even higher than the recent bad winters we had in 2022-23 and 2024-25.

We have vaccinated around 1500 patients so far and will be vaccinating the housebound next week. We still have some stock left, so if you have put off having the jab and still want it please contact us as soon as possible so we can get you protected.

Although it may have passed you by there was a lot in the medical news last week about the government imposing on GP surgeries online consultations during core working hours (08:00 - 18:30).

For many practices, including ourselves, it didn't amount to any great changes as we have had this service for several years anyway. The dark blue box on the front page of our website takes you to a series of questions to answer to ensure you get the help you need.

In about half the cases this will be a doctor's appointment, the rest are mainly admin and prescription queries. If it is something that can be dealt with on the 'phone a doctor will ring you and if it looks like you'll need to come in reception will either call you or send you a link so you can book a time of your choosing. Please note this is NOT a service for urgent or emergency problems - you should call us. The service only runs during core hours.

If you don't want to use the online service it's still completely fine to call us, email us, write to us or come down in person (however if you do come down in person this doesn't mean you will be seen straight away). The online form is just another route to contact us.

Just a reminder that if you get a kit through the post for the bowel cancer screening test please send it back. We do get notified when they are not returned and quite a lot aren't. Completing it might save your life. If you have missed the test you can contact the screening service on 0800 707 60 60 to get another one sent out.
