Those living with us took some time over the few days around Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day to remember those lost and those who sacrifice for our country.

We had a walk over to the local cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday to pay our respects and join in with prayers and the service provided by our local church reverend. Residents enjoyed painting poppies which we have displayed on our various notice boards around the home and we had a lovely 1940s/ 1950s themed Remembrance afternoon of songs and dancing provided by our talented Amazing Grace.

The somewhat emotional time brought both tears and joy, taking some time to remember both happy times from the past as well as some more sombre moments. Lest we forget.

Our 2025 Halloween celebrations were a scream this year! Those living with us got fully emersed in the activities of pumpkin painting, dressing up and decorating the social spaces.

We had our regular entertainment in, Amazing Grace, who sang a Halloween themed array of wonderfully spooky songs ranging from Ghostbusters to Witchcraft and Monster Mash. Everyone danced and enjoyed some festive treats of Halloween cupcakes, sweets and nibbles. Our afternoon was finished off with a lovely round of Bingo and a Halloween themed quiz.

This week we have had the pleasure of having a visit from amazing grace the very talented singer, as you can see it was well received with our residents who were up dancing and joining in with musical instruments and getting involved with a sing-a-long. there was a variety of different songs from different times, so there was music for everyone to enjoy!

This week we have been on a trip down memory lane, recalling our fondest memories. We had a variety of different memories from family to activities. We enjoy doing activities like this as it stimulates the brain, opens us up emotionally and gives us a chance to get to know each other better. It might also trigger a memory someone else had forgotten about.

we have been very busy planting lots of different herbs and flowers such as dill, chives, coriander and forget-me-nots. the residents enjoyed socialising with each other and getting stuck into the mud followed by a lovely cup of tea after we were all finished. everyone is excited for them to start growing so that they can transfer them into the garden.

We had a visit from our small animal friends. Those living with us were introduced to some lovely fluffy and feathery creatures, as well as some scaley slithery ones. Oreo and Twix, the two guinea pigs were a delight, as well as the beautiful and surprisingly friendly and curious chickens. Echo the gecko and his white carpet snake companion gave us an alternative small animal experience, although some residents took to the snake more than others!

The overall favourites had to be a little black mouse and a small young tortoise named Essio who befriended everyone they met. An overall happy animal therapy session had by all.

This summer we have been doing lots of fun activities, one of which was the Summer Fair, we were very happy to invite friends and family to join us for exciting games, delicious food and drink, and entertainment by Amazing Grace.

Our tombola raffle was full of some wonderful prizes donated by local restaurants, Meze Handforth, and Giuliano Italian Handforth, as well as donations from staff and relatives. The afternoon was a very busy one and everyone had a great time through More...Socialising and celebrating with us.

There's nothing quite like a game or two on a wet, rainy September afternoon, and as the weather turns more autumnal, we have enjoyed some cosy game activities this week.

Those living with us here at Cavendish had some very competitive rounds of 4 in a row, and we had one outstanding resident that beat us all! Others who fancied something a little more conservative chose to complete a jigsaw puzzle for More...Thinking over a good brew and a chat.

As part of our More...Movement programme at Cavendish Court, those living with us have participated in some sports based activities this week, including a visit from Macclesfield FC Community Sport Trust and one of our regular Just Bowl sessions.

These exercise and physical activities help the the people living with us to work on their coordination skills, strength and mobility, as well as enjoying some fun and healthy competition. We had some great high scores during our Just Bowl session this week!

We took some of the lovely people living with us on a trip to Chester Zoo. We enjoyed the walk round with More...Fresh Air, and saw lots of the animals. Everyone especially enjoyed the majestic elephants, the cheeky monkeys, and the large male lion, nicest of all was the baby orangutan swinging on the nets alongside its mother.

Those living with us had a delicious picnic lunch prepared by our talented chefs at Cavendish, and we were lucky enough to avoid the rain. The day was loved by all.

Over the weekend, some of the people living with us visited our neighbouring site as they were having an amazing Summer Fair.

Belvedere Care Home had a bouncy castle, items for sale, food/ drinks and even the emergency services visited. A couple of us were brave enough to try on the police equipment - it was very heavy!

We all enjoyed More...Socialising, listening to the live music and had a cooling ice cream to finish off the day.

To celebrate International Bear Day, we got together and painted various images of different types of bears during our More...Creativity session.

The lovely people living with us enjoyed using both paint and felt tip pens to create some very interesting and colourful pieces of art work.
