So, what actually is Pilates? 🤔

It was created over 100 years ago by Joseph Pilates, who first called it Contrology (because the whole idea was about moving with control and intention).

These days, Pilates is all about building strength, mobility and stability, while helping you feel more connected to how your body moves. It’smovement that supports you everywhere: in class, at your desk, running for the train, or just carrying the shopping.

There are different ways to practise Pilates too. You can do it on the mat with just your bodyweight, or on specialist equipment like the Reformer, Tower or Chair (more on those later!).

At its heart, Pilates is simple: mindful movement that makes you feel stronger, taller and more at home in your body. 💜

Phase one… complete! 🎉

A huge shoutout to our amazing Teacher Training Academy crew — including , , and — for completing their the first phase of their training hours. That’s the first big step on the journey to becoming certified Pilates instructors, and we couldn’t be prouder. 💛

Special thanks to Charlotte, our brilliant Training Academy Coordinator, and Kristen, our Lead Instructor, for guiding, mentoring, and cheering them on every step of the way.

Meet Charlotte. A powerhouse of quiet strength, Charlotte brings resilience, empathy, and joy to every class she teaches. Living with a physical condition that affects her body, Pilates has been central to her ongoing rehab journey — not just physically, but mentally too.

It’s given her the tools to meet her body where it’s at, and the grace to keep showing up.

“Frustration might arise,” she says, “but I’m still so lucky I get to attend classes in a beautiful studio, led by intelligent instructors, surrounded by a fabulous community of clients, and let my body move in whatever capacity it has on the day.”
