Children's Hearing Assessment

mi Ears Audiology in Aldershot are specialists in Paediatric Hearing Assessments. The Children's Hearing Test Assessment is for children aged from 3 to 12 years of age and is with an experienced Specialist Paediatric Audiologist.

The appointment which includes:

- Comprehensive medical history.

- Examination of your child's ears.

Different objective and behavioural tests can be used according to your child’s age and ability:

- Pure tone audiometry (Hearing Test): children from 5 years old using headphones and pressing a button when they hear a sound.

- Play audiometry: children from 2 -5 years old using headphones or a soundfield handheld audiometer. Performing a task such as putting a man in a boat when they hear a sound.

- Tympanometry: tests the middle ear and ear drum status and can detect conditions such as glue ear or a perforated eardrum. It can also check if grommets are patent.

- Speech discrimination tests : Using the Parrot automated speech tests according to age: McCormick toy test, Manchester Picture Word test, Manchester Junior Word list, AB Word list.

- Otoacoustic Emissions: cochlear function testing used on the Newborn Hearing Screen Programme.

A new walking group which encourages men to discuss mental health issues with their peers launches this Sunday (14 April) in Aldershot.
The 'For Men To Talk' walk starts out at 10am from the Wellington Statue in Claycart Road, and will provide an opportunity for men in Rushmoor to engage in meaningful conversations, connect with like-minded individuals, and take positives steps toward improved their mental and physical health. By combining the therapeutic effects of walking with the power of peer support, the group aims to break down barriers surrounding mental health and encourage a culture of openness and resilience within the community.
