Recognising it is half the battle," he told host Lauren Laverne. "So sometimes I just go through a dark period and I know that I've got to do something about it."

The broadcaster also said he often felt conflicted about how much of his own mental health journey to share publicly, noting: "You’ve got to be careful because it's triggering [for other people].

"The way that I try and tackle that is to talk about it, I'm trying to normalise feeling like that, not that it is normal, but I'm trying to destigmatise it to make the conversation normal."

The comedian says he hopes to destigmatise mental health issues by being open about his own experiences.

1 in 10 UK adults experience some form of mental illness in their life. Despite this, a new poll by YouGov shows that around a third of UK adults would not be comfortable to share a mental health diagnosis with a friend.

While mental health awareness has moved in a positive direction in recent years, stigma and discrimination still remains and has a negative impact on peoples lives. It is time for that to stop. Lets Rethink is a campaign designed to enable people to have a better understanding of mental health issues and work towards ending the stigma.

Let’s end the judgement. Let's Rethink Mental Illness.

It might be feeling that lots of things are changing in the world around us at the moment and that change might feel like it is out of our control. Change whether positive or negative can be scary and overwhelming.

American writer and civil rights activist James Baldwin said “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”

You don't have to face things alone.

"Boys don't cry" or so we grow up being told. This film takes a look at men's mental health and why it is still a struggle for a lot of men to open up. With su***de rates increasing and men between 50 - 54 the most likely to make an attempt on their life, it is clear that something needs to change. Can we change the narrative and start to show society the immense strength and bravery it takes to be vulnerable?

Scottish filmmaker Duncan Cowles set out to ask why men tend to bottle up their emotions.

In a world filled with big problems problems, it's easy to feel like your own struggles pale in comparison. But here's a gentle reminder: your feelings are valid, and your well-being matters. Think of it like being on a plane; you must secure your own oxygen mask before assisting others.

Taking care of your mental health isn't selfish—it's an act of self-compassion. Counselling offers a safe space to explore your thoughts and emotions without judgment. Remember, you're not alone in this journey. Your mental health deserves attention and care. 💙
