Enjoying our hamper......

It didn't take long for our residents to get stuck into the hamper that the lads of Kirkby Garibaldi football club donated to them. Here they are enjoying some treats with a glass of mulled wine and some Bucks Fizz.

A Big Thank You......

Residents at Normanton Lodge were really pleased to welcome the young lads from Kirkby Garibaldi football club, who came to wish all of us a Merry Christmas. They left a lovely hamper for all the residents to share. What a lovely thing to do, so a huge thank you from everyone here to them. We hope they are all enjoying a great Christmas!

A wonderful Christmas event....

We were so lucky this week when the children from Frederick Gent School came ot the home to give us a carol concert. They have such lovely voices, and our residents had a wonderful time listening to them. We would welcome them back in a heartbeat.

Party Party!....

Residents and staff at Normanton Lodge had a really great Christmas Party recently. There was some fantastic entertainment, and a wonderful spread was laid on by our kitchen team. Everyone had a lot of laughs and enjoyed the whole occasion. A huge thank you to everyone who made the event so special.

Marking Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day holds deep significance for many of our residents whose family histories are touched by war, and today we will listen as they share memories from the past. The home will hold a period of silence and make sure that we honour the sacrifice of people in the two World Wars and other conflicts. We hope that going forward we can all learn to live in a more peaceful and harmonious world. We should never forget the sacrifices of those who fought so that we can live as freely as we do today.

All the fun of the fair!

We recently held a circus-themed Fun Day at the home, with residents and staff all joining in with the craziness. With live music, food and drink aplenty, it was a lovely day that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. There were some great Tombola prizes and it was lovely to see family and friends come together and enjoying themselves.

Get ready for Fun!

The circus is coming to town - well, to Normanton Lodge - on the 5th of September. It promises to be a great afternoon, with lots of stalls, games, food, and drink for everyone. A lovely trip out...

A group of our wonderful residents recently took a trip out to enjoy the delights offered by one of our local pubs - The Countryman. It was a trip enjoyed by all as the food and drink were lovely - as was the company. Everyone is now looking forward to a return visit.

A memorable day!

Residents and staff at Normanton Lodge had a great day celebrating the 80th Anniversary of VE Day last week. The home was decorated with lots of bunting and flags. The staff all dressed up in different uniforms which went down a treat. There was entertainment in the form of razzle dazzle singing with lots of war songs - great for our residents to sing along to. We also had a fab buffet (thank you kitchen team) which everybody tucked in to.

All in all it was a great day, with lots of memories and stories of days past. We hope you enjoyed your VE Day celebrations too.

Pancake Day is here!….

Every year on the Tuesday before the start of lent we eat pancakes galore.

But why? Well because Shrove Tuesday is the day preceding Lent, traditionally it was a way to use up rich foods such as eggs, milk, and sugar, before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent.

Now you may not want to fast for lent but that doesn’t stop you enjoying a pancake or two today. What will be your choice of topping? Here at Normanton we like fruits and cream. Yummy!
