News Update:

Veterans Awareness Accreditation

In July last year we started working towards gaining Veterans Awareness Accreditation for all of our Hospice services.

As a County with a high concentration of Veterans in Alnwick, Berwick, Wooler and Seahouses we want to make sure that our Veterans can access our services. By working with other Veterans organisations, we can ensure that our services meet their specific needs.

Work continues to gather pace as we work towards accreditation alongside signing up to The Armed Forces Covenant.

We’re incredibly proud to share that our Dementia Support Team has been nominated and shortlisted for an award at the Tácnbora Tour!

This recognition celebrates the meaningful work happening every day across our communities. Our Dementia team creates safe and welcoming spaces through a wide range of activities that bring people together, reduce isolation, and support those living with dementia and their families.

To see their compassion, creativity and commitment recognised in this way is truly special.

Hospice Care North Northumberland!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that HospiceCare North Northumberland is our Charity of the Year.

They are a local charity dedicated to providing expert nursing care and compassionate support to adults and their families living with life-limiting illnesses. The work they do across the community is truly inspiring.

Last week, we welcomed Lucy Bell, Head of Income Generation, to our Employee Appreciation Day to share more about the incredible impact Hospice Care has and how they support people when it matters most.

One statistic that really stood out to the team was just how vital community support is to their work:

Hospice Care’s annual operating costs are £1.3 million, yet the NHS contribution is only £46,000 - meaning they must raise the vast majority of their funding themselves.

Alongside this announcement, we were also proud to launch our new volunteering initiative. Every person in the business will have the opportunity to take one fully paid day out of the office each year to volunteer for Hospice Care North Northumberland or a charity of their choice.

Giving back to the communities around us is incredibly important, and we’re excited to support the amazing work Hospice Care North Northumberland does while making a positive difference where we can.
