Follow in the footsteps of Tracey and take on our Hospice Hundred challenge!

Starting September 1st, we’re inviting you to cycle 100 miles for HospiceCare North Northumberland and ask your friends, family, colleagues (anyone!) to sponsor your efforts.

Why take part? We are a charity and all of our services are completely free for those who need them. But it costs £1.3 million every year to keep our services running, which is why your support makes such a huge difference.

Every mile you ride helps us continue providing specialist end-of-life care in people’s homes across North Northumberland. On top of that, we also deliver dedicated dementia support and bereavement services.

If you want to take part in the Hospice Hundred challenge email Natalie Wilson - nwilson@hospicecare-nn.org.uk

We send our heartfelt condolences to Linda Thorburn's family at this difficult time.

Her daughter, Claire, has shared some beautiful words reflecting on her mum’s final days as our team cared for Linda at her home:

"My lovely Mum battled cancer for many years.

We found out two years ago she had incurable breast cancer. It was a diagnosis my incredible Mum accepted with courage and dignity.

She loved it best when she rounded up her family and was surrounded by them at home. Thanks to Hospicecare North Northumberland she got that wish right up to the moment we said our goodbyes to her, in her own home absolutely cocooned in love.

Until you've walked this difficult and emotional journey, you have no idea of the incredible practical care and emotional support Hospicecare North Northumberland provide - for which there is no charge.

We never know when we - or our loved ones - may need their lifeline service."

Claire has set up a JustGiving page in memory of her mum. If you'd like to support the family on their fundraising jouney please head over the their page:

We’re so touched by the kindness and generosity shown through Deborah’s fundraising efforts. Every donation made in Roy’s memory helps us continue supporting local people and families when they need us most.

Deborah wrote:

"My loving, gentle, caring husband Roy, passed away on 29th July. He had been suffering from Lewy Body dementia. Roy was an active and fit man with a quick and dry sense of humour. He saw the humour in most situations and was known for his laid back approach to life and his readiness to smile.

Dementia took away some of this but the very essence of Roy endured and will endure. He never lost his smile.

He was disappointed when the illness affected his mobility and balance and he could no longer cycle or walk as far as he had previously. Along came Doreen from the hospice with her Monday morning walking dementia football. Truly a godsend! Roy loved it. A very caring, enabling group of fellow dementia sufferers, volunteers and footballers wives! The footballers and volunteers ensuring everyone got a fair share of the game. Roy enjoyed the football and the coffee, chocolate and chat afterwards."

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated, your support truly makes a difference.

If you’d like to honour Roy’s memory and support our work, you can give on deborah's just giving page here:

We want to show you what your generous donations make possible...

These snapshots are from our Canny Cuppa in Berwick, one of our regular dementia cafés where people can come together in a relaxed, welcoming space. With a friendly atmosphere and good company, these events give those living with dementia, their families, and carers the chance to connect, share, and feel supported.

Thank you for helping us continue this vital support across our communities in Alnwick, Berwick, and Rothbury.

If you, a family member, or a friend would like to join one of our Canny Cuppa sessions or any of our dementia-friendly events, visit our website to find the times, dates, and locations near you.
