We currently seem to be experiencing a covid outbreak, please read below and follow advice:

COVID-19 symptoms and what to do!

Symptoms of COVID-19

COVID-19 symptoms can include:
• a high temperature or shivering (chills) – a high temperature means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
• a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
• a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
• shortness of breath
• feeling tired or exhausted
• an aching body
• a headache
• a sore throat
• a blocked or runny nose
• loss of appetite
• diarrhoea
• feeling sick or being sick
The symptoms are very similar to symptoms of other illnesses, such as colds and flu.

Most people feel better within a few weeks, but it can take longer to recover.

What to do if you have symptoms of COVID-19

Try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people if you or your child have symptoms and either:
• have a high temperature
• do not feel well enough to go to work, school, childcare, or do your normal activities
• Regular handwashing, coughing into a tissue and discarding.
• Consider wearing a mask in crowded environments

You can go back to your normal activities when you feel better or do not have a high temperature.

If your child has mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat or mild cough, and they feel well enough, they can go to school or childcare.

Alnwick Medical Group - PPG Recruitment

Following the relaunch of our Patient Participation Group (PPG) at Alnwick Medical Group we are looking for new Representatives to Join our Group in:

“Representing patients and putting them at the heart of all we do”

The purpose of the group is to:
• engage with the patient population to hear patients’ views on the healthcare services provided by the Practice
• ensure general issues and themes are raised and discussed at PPG meetings
noting that in some instances personal issues will need to be dealt with via appropriate procedures
• provide feedback on patients’ needs, concerns and interests - giving them a voice in the organisation of their care
• influence the provision of secondary healthcare and social care locally

During meetings PPG Members will be kept informed of developments and news from the Practice related to its healthcare services provision. We would love to have more input from our patients', and we look forward to welcoming new members to our friendly meetings.

The aim is to ensure the PPG where possible represents the views of the patient population and we would like to have representation of all patient groups from 18 upwards. It is also important to represent the geographical catchment area of the Practice; therefore, your expression of interest may not be successful where we already have representation from your area. We are specifically encouraging applications from patients living in: Swarland, Whittingham, Callaly, Glanton, Branton, Eglingham, West Ditchburn, South Charlton, Outchester, Waren mill, Budle bay, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Hazon, Acklington, Guyzance, and Powburn.

We meet in the Practice on the last Thursday every 2nd month alternating between 10am and 2pm. Meetings last no longer than 2 hours. The upcoming meetings dates and times for the coming 12 months are:

DATE & TIMES
29th September 2025 - 10am
27th November 2025 - 2pm
29th January 2026 - 10am
26th March 2026 - 2pm
28th May 2026 - 10am
