🍂Here's an easy and fun half term activity with a (lateral) twist. 🍂
Sometimes as a parent it can be so hard to think of something to do every day. 😩In our classes Tatty Bumpkin goes on an adventure and uses nature to inspire her yoga. When you go outside today, collect some leaves and then have a practice at moving your body in the shape of the leaves. Perhaps they're 💨 blowing in the wind? You could use the leaves and blow them to help calm down and relax? (A good one if the kids are having a wild moment)

World mental health day

According to 'The Good Childhood report ' 2023 10% of the children aged 10 to 17 have low wellbeing, and almost a third were unhappy with at least one specific area of their lives.

World Mental Health Day is a day to raise awareness of mental health problems. At Children Inspired by Yoga we are on a mission to teach children life skills and tools to better manage pressure and overwhelm in the modern world. We do this through our unique programs inspired by yoga teaching breathwork, movement, relaxation and learning to self regulate in a fun and creative way.

Pose of the week this week is Brushing our Teeth.
Tatty Bumpkin brushes her teeth twice a day to keep them strong and white. This daily habit is a great pre-writing skill as it strengthens the shoulders. If you want to make it super fun and a bit more challenging you could try standing on one leg.

This weeks pose of the week is Snake pose.
Snake gives children an opportunity to play games on their tummy, helping to build strength, develop balance skills & improve their ability to focus. We often think of tummy time for babies and little ones – but it’s helpful for everyone! How to do snake poseFind a clear place on a non-slip surface where you and your child can do snake pose without bumping into anything. Try to do snake pose along with you child – slowly and carefully so they can copy you. Please respect your body. If you have back or neck problems and always consult a health professional before you try the pose.
Take off your socks and shoes. This will enable you to use your feet effectively as you wriggle.
Lie down on the floor facing each other. Prop yourselves up on your forearms, palms flat against the floor. Hiss at each other like snakes! This is great for encouraging speech and confidence.
A more challenging snake poseOnce your child is stable and confident in snake pose, they may then push up onto their hands, straightening their arms, but being careful not to ‘lock’ elbows or shoulders.

Pose of the week - Tree 🌳

Tree pose is a fantastic way for your child to develop their balance skills. In a recent study, early years specialists at Loughborough University found that many reception children are experiencing problems with their balance and co ordination. Dr Rebecca Duncombe, who led the study, commented: ‘A child’s physical development level impacts their ability to complete simple tasks such as sitting still, holding a pencil, putting on their shoes, and especially reading – all skills essential for school’ and ‘Our research shows that not only are children starting school less physically ready than ever before, but that teachers are noticing this change and its impact in the classroom.’ Have a go at being a tree at home to improve your child's balance.

It's finally here! The first week back at school. You might be a little nervous, Tatty Bumpkin certainly is but she can't wait to see you all in class soon. She has missed you so much playing with her friends (and that's all of you, which is her favourite thing to do) See you soon. x

One week to go until we're back at school.
Woah that went quick!
While you're dashing round getting school shoes, bags, uniform, pens, highlighters, saying goodbye to the summer but also possibly also looking forward to some more routine again here's some advice from our franchisees for the run up and the first day and week back.

🐾It's National Dog Day🐾

Celebrating National Dog Day can be as easy as giving your four-legged friend a big hug and kiss (if they like that sort of affection)!
The aim of today is all to raise awareness about adopting these animals who are currently in rescue centers. In addition, on this day promote dog ownership of all breeds, pure and mix.

Heres 9 facts you might not know about dogs
1. Their sense of smell is at least 40x better than ours

2. Some have such good noses they can sniff out medical problems

3. Dogs can sniff at the same time as breathing

4. Some dogs are incredible swimmers

5. Dogs are about as intelligent as a two-year-ol

6. Dogs don’t sweat like we do they pant to stay cool

7. Just like humans dogs have a preferred hand (well, paw) to lead with.

8. Along with their noses, their hearing is super sensitive

9. Dogs have 18 muscles controlling their ears
