As Dementia Action Week comes to a close, we want to thank everyone who has engaged with our posts, shared experiences, and helped raise awareness💙

This week has been an opportunity to highlight the importance of understanding, compassion, and person-centred support for those living with dementia.

Across Hartford Care, we remain committed to creating safe, supportive environments where residents are treated with dignity, encouraged to maintain their independence, and supported to continue enjoying the moments that matter most to them.

Although Dementia Action Week may be ending, raising awareness and supporting those affected by dementia is something that continues every day.🧠

Meet the team behind our care🩵

This week, we’ve shared the importance of understanding dementia, supporting independence, and creating meaningful moments for those living with dementia - but none of this would be possible without our incredible teams across Hartford Care.

These photos show just some of the compassionate colleagues who make a difference in our homes every single day. From sharing a laugh, offering reassurance, encouraging favourite hobbies, or simply being there during difficult moments, it’s the small acts of kindness that mean so much to residents and their loved ones.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication, patience, and compassion shown by all of our teams across Hartford Care, helping residents feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

Thank you to all of our amazing teams for everything you do🫶🏼

Dementia Action Week - Day 5🩵

Living with dementia shouldn’t mean giving up the things that make you who you are.

Across our homes, we encourage residents to continue enjoying familiar hobbies and meaningful activities - whether that’s baking, gardening, painting, playing games, or spending time doing the things they’ve always loved.

Our teams tailor support around each individual, helping residents maintain their independence, choices, and sense of purpose wherever possible. Because person-centred care is about more than support - it’s about preserving dignity, freedom, and identity every single day.

These moments reflect the kind of person-centred care we strive to provide across all Hartford Care homes🥰

As part of Dementia Action Week, we were delighted to welcome the Rah Rah Theatre Company into our care homes for a wonderful swinging 60s performance. Music has a unique ability to unlock memories, spark conversation, and bring people together, particularly for those living with dementia.

The lively songs, familiar tunes, and interactive atmosphere created moments of joy, connection, and reminiscence for our residents. Many residents sang along, danced, and shared memories from their younger years, helping to promote wellbeing, confidence, and social engagement.

Experiences like these are incredibly valuable within our care homes, as they provide meaningful stimulation and emotional comfort while creating positive shared experiences for residents, families, and staff alike. We are proud to support Dementia Action Week by providing activities that celebrate individuality, encourage connection, and enhance quality of life for those living with dementia.

It’s Day 3 of Dementia Action Week, and today we’re highlighting the positive impact animal therapy can have for people living with dementia🩵🐾

Animal interactions can provide emotional, cognitive and sensory benefits for residents, helping to support overall wellbeing and quality of life.

Research shows that animal therapy can:
• Trigger the release of relaxation-inducing neurochemicals such as serotonin, oxytocin and dopamine, which can help reduce stress and anxiety
• Create a calm and soothing atmosphere, promoting comfort and emotional connection
• Stimulate the brain through touch, conversation and engagement, while also evoking happy memories of previous pets and experiences

For many people living with dementia, these meaningful interactions can encourage communication, improve mood and provide moments of joy and reassurance.

These lovely pictures are from across a number of our care homes, capturing some truly special moments between residents and their furry visitors🐶
