Do you live or work in one of these top 3 stressed areas?

The South East, London and the North West are the 3 areas in England that lost the greatest number of working days due to stress. This comes from the Labour Force Survey 2025.

Try to be proactive at managing your own stress levels, don't wait until it is too late and becomes such a problem that you need to take time off work.

Stress Awareness Month

Stress is all around us.
This picture represents environmental stress, a type that often goes unnoticed because it’s woven into our daily routines.

Busy streets, loud workplaces, cramped spaces, harsh lighting, constant alerts — these environmental factors keep the body in a low‑level state of alert.
Left unaddressed, they can contribute to anxiety, irritability, fatigue, and burnout.

By recognising environmental stress, we can start making small changes that create calmer, healthier spaces around us.

It's the weekend!

Part of stress awareness month is recognising and accepting the need to slow down and take some time out. You are allowed to rest; you don't have to be on the go constantly.

Take some time to get out into nature and enjoy. Nature is not for you, or the weather is the typical British weather. Read a book, play a game, have a bath, or do something that you find relaxing.

Take some time away from your screens, even if it is just an hour.

Some scary statistics, right?

Stress might not be labelled a mental health condition, but it’s deeply connected to anxiety and depression — and together, they affect millions of working people.

When pressure builds without relief, it chips away at focus, motivation, and wellbeing. The goal isn’t to eliminate stress completely — it’s to manage it before it becomes unmanageable.

Let’s normalise talking about stress at work. Let’s make early support the rule, not the exception.

We are here to help:

Workplace stress doesn’t always look like burnout—it can be subtle and build over time.

Tight deadlines, high expectations, and constant connectivity can leave you feeling drained, distracted, or mentally exhausted.

This Stress Awareness Month, consider:
• Setting clearer boundaries between work and personal time
• Taking short, regular breaks during the day
• Checking in with your workload and expectations
• Making time for rest without feeling guilty

Sustained stress can affect both performance and wellbeing. Taking care of your mental health is not a luxury—it’s essential.

Parental stress is often invisible—but it’s very real.

Balancing responsibilities, caring for others, and managing daily demands can leave little time to recharge. Stress might show up as exhaustion, irritability, or feeling emotionally stretched.

This Stress Awareness Month, remember:
• It’s okay to ask for help
• Taking time for yourself benefits your whole family
• You don’t have to do everything perfectly
• Even small moments of rest matter

Looking after yourself is part of looking after your family.

Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and support overall wellbeing. Even small moments—like a walk in the park, sitting by water, or noticing the changes in seasons—can help us feel more grounded.

This Earth Day, consider:
• Taking a mindful walk outdoors
• Reducing screen time and reconnecting with your surroundings
• Noticing how nature affects your mood and stress levels
• Finding small ways to protect the environment

Looking after the Earth and looking after your mental health often go hand in hand.

Stress isn’t just part of being a student—it’s something that deserves attention.

Deadlines, exams, and pressure to succeed can build up quickly. Stress might show up as procrastination, difficulty concentrating, poor sleep, or feeling constantly overwhelmed.

This Stress Awareness Month, try to:
• Break tasks into smaller, manageable steps
• Take regular study breaks
• Prioritise sleep as much as revision
• Talk to someone you trust about how you’re feeling

You don’t have to push through everything alone. Support is there—and reaching out is a strength, not a weakness.

Stress isn’t always loud.
Sometimes it looks like irritability, fatigue, poor sleep, or feeling “off” without knowing why.

During Stress Awareness Month, it’s worth remembering that stress is a natural response—but when it becomes constant, it can impact both mental and physical health.

Small steps can make a difference:
• Taking short breaks throughout the day
• Setting realistic expectations for yourself
• Staying connected with supportive people
• Allowing yourself time to rest without guilt

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone—and support is available.

Stress Awareness Month...
Not all stress is bad!
An often under discussed subject, there is such a thing as 'good stress' or eustress.
A term coined by Hans Selye in 1974 in his seminal works that form one of the foundation theories of stress to this day.
It is probably something you haven't considered much, good stress, let me give you some examples:

Starting a new job — nerves mixed with excitement because it’s a positive challenge.
Planning a holiday — lots to organise, but it’s enjoyable and motivating.
Learning a new skill — stretching yourself in a way that feels rewarding.
Preparing for a presentation — adrenaline that helps you perform well.
Exercising — physical stress that strengthens the body rather than harming it.
Going on a first date — butterflies that come from anticipation, not fear.
Setting personal goals — the pressure to improve that feels empowering.
Competing in a sport or friendly challenge — stress that boosts focus and performance.

Why these count as eustress
They all involve:
A positive outcome or personal growth
A sense of control
A challenge that feels manageable
And of course stress

It's good to have this perspective that not all stress has to be thought of as bad, it is very much how you frame it and how you take control over it.

Stress Awareness Month

Not all stress is bad! 🧘‍♂️

In the 1970s it was recognised by Hans Selye that whilst the body has a physiological response to stress it is how the stressor is interpreted and acted upon. Stress can be a good thing! 'Good stress' is also known as Eustress.

Common examples of eustress 👍

Stress can have the result of motivating you, making you strive to do better.

Just remember that stress is essential but too much can be a bad thing. The type of stress and the way we deal with it is important.

This month is stress awareness month.
Stress is very real and can become a huge problem if not acted on.
Stress doesn’t always show up as shaking hands or a racing heart.
Sometimes it shows up as…

• Snapping at people you care about
• Forgetting simple things
• Feeling foggy or disconnected
• Avoiding tasks you used to handle easily
• Not recognising yourself in the way you think, react, or show up

Long-term stress doesn’t hit all at once.
It rewires things quietly — your focus, your patience, your motivation, your confidence, even your relationships.

You start thinking differently.
You start reacting differently.
You start feeling different.

If you’ve been feeling “off”, “not yourself”, or constantly on edge, you’re not imagining it.
You’re not failing.
Your system is overloaded.
