It's the most wonderful time of the year!

In our countdown to Christmas, we took some of our residents to the Christmas markets in Manchester City Centre. We had a nice lunch and a hot drink to help us through the December chills. We spent some quality time together and did lots of sightseeing!

Festive Tidings from Allingham House, to begin our festive season, we had a visit from two very special Shetland ponies named Tallulah and Tinkerbell. Our residents were overjoyed to touch them and have them visit their bedroom. This is one of the many reasons that our residents look forward to this time of year. Season's greetings, Allingham House!

A jazzy hello from Allingham House!

This week we had staff, residents' family members and members of our local church community come together for the ultimate strictly themed dance off. We had latin ballroom dances, a waltz and a rock and roll themed dance. As a bonus act, a staff member introduced our residents to vogue - a vibrant, contemporary dance style from America. Our Allingham community enjoyed deliberating on who should win and it was a great, energetic event for all involved. Until next time!

Here at Allingham, we have so many diverse staff members from many rich and individual cultures. We love to expose our residents to the cultures and customs of different groups of people so we enjoyed a variety of African snacks, foods and listened to some influential black musicians. We also learned about different fabrics and cultural clothing and the significance of them.

We finished off the day by having a staff dance off where we showed off some of our moves from our various cultures. Our residents were so open and enthusiastic about this new experience and they all thoroughly enjoyed it!

A spooky hello from Allingham House!

Our Lifestyle team got all dressed up to make this Halloween extra special. To celebrate, we made pumpkin bread, carved jackal laterns and a singer graced us with a performance that was out of this world. We hope you had a happy Halloween!

The people living with us had a great time celebrating Diwali Festival.

We started the week decorating clay lamps that we lit on Friday. Our residents enjoyed not just a selection of Indian traditional sweets but thanks to our amazing Regional Coordinator Simi, we also enjoyed a traditional Indian dessert. Additionally, we were lucky enough to get a master-class in Bhangra style dancing.

The people living with us enjoyed a trip to our local coffee shop.

It was a lovely walk, enjoying the fresh air, as well as admiring the beauty of the autumn colours. It was the perfect opportunity for socialising and reminiscing, while they were enjoying their favourite drinks.

It's that time of year again! Time for some Messy Vintage, a fan favourite amongst those living with us.

This week, we gathered together to plant some bulbs. Daffodils, tulips and many more beautiful flowers were planted. As the weather gets more chilly and the days get shorter, planting these bulbs gave us the spring back in our step. We'd like to thank our fantastic volunteers from the local church who always help provide our residents with incredible activities, we appreciate everything you do!

We held our increasingly popular Knit and Natter Club!

It was a special session as a long awaited project was finally completed. Here is an exclusive look at this incredible rabbit! This was knitted by one of the amazing people living with us, and we are incredibly proud of her. This beautiful bunny will be gifted to a very special great-grandchild as their first toy.

There was also a very special bonding moment between a granddaughter and her grandmother, bonding over the great fibre art of knitting!
