Have you had your AAA screening?

If you’re aged 64–66 and haven’t had your AAA screening, now’s the time.

An abdominal aortic aneurysm often has no symptoms, so screening is the only way to know.

FIT kits are now being checked at a lower threshold for everyone aged 50 to 74. This means even smaller traces of blood can be detected, helping to spot possible signs of bowel cancer earlier, when treatment is often more effective.

When your kit arrives, keep it somewhere visible and complete it as soon as you can.

Early testing makes a real difference.

Ordering your repeat prescription is easy with the NHS App 💊

If you take medication regularly, you can order your repeat prescription quickly and conveniently using the NHS App, no need to contact the surgery or book an appointment each time.

Most patients on long-term medication have a repeat prescription in place, allowing you to request your medicines online at a time that suits you. It’s a simple way to save time and manage your health.

Please remember to request your prescription at least 5 working days before you run out of medication to avoid delays.

We are making it easier to get the help you need. Using an online form is a quick and easy way to let your GP surgery know what’s wrong, or to raise a query or concern. This helps make sure you get the right care when you need it.

For some people, using the online form can be more convenient than calling the surgery, especially if you do not like using the phone or find it difficult to call because of work or caring commitment. 📲

Changes in the cervix usually don’t cause any symptoms. You won’t feel unwell, and you won’t know anything is wrong unless you’re screened. Cervical screening can find abnormal cell changes early, including those that are most likely to develop into cancer.

When these changes are found early, they can be treated. This is one of the most effective ways we have to prevent cervical cancer.

If you’ve been invited for cervical screening, please consider booking your appointment.

It’s a simple test, and it really can save lives.

📣 We spotted this on the nhs.uk Instagram and had to share!

Cervical screening is for women aged 25 to 64.

You’ll be invited every 5 years to attend your screening appointment.

Cervical screening helps prevent cervical cancer by checking for high-risk HPV, which can cause abnormal changes in cervical cells.

When you receive your invitation, it’s really important to book your appointment. Screening saves lives.

Vitamin D Reminder 🌤️

From October to March, the sunlight in the UK isn’t strong enough for our bodies to make enough vitamin D.

To help keep your bones and muscles healthy, it’s recommended to take a daily 10 microgram (10µg) vitamin D supplement during these months.

Vitamin D supplements are widely available from most pharmacies and retailers.

The MMRV vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella & chickenpox) is now being introduced into the routine childhood immunisation schedule in the UK.

🗓️ When your child is offered the vaccine will depend on their date of birth – the UK Health Security Agency guide in this post explains the new schedule.

✅ The MMRV vaccine has been safely used for over 10 years and is already part of routine vaccination programmes in Canada, Australia and Germany.

🔔 Catch-up vaccinations
A single MMRV catch-up dose will be offered to children born between 1 January 2020 and 31 August 2022 if they haven’t had chickenpox or been vaccinated against it. This will be offered between November 2026 and March 2028.

➡️ For more information, head to the UK Health Security Agency website, where a comprehensive guide is available.

🧦 Wear several thin layers, including warm socks and slippers
🍲 Eat regular hot meals and have warm drinks
🛏️ Keep moving during the day to help stay warm
🚪 Keep doors and windows closed where possible to prevent draughts
