Afternoon Everyone... How was your weekend ?

Did you do anything...

A walk, a run, a training session, or some downtime with your family ?

For me it was a busy one.

Saturday was all about getting kit sorted and ready for or training event on Sunday. We had people over from Liverpool, Blackburn, Standish and members from our fitness studio.

A big shout out to the volunteers as well... These events don't run without them.

Even if your weekend wasn't perfect, that's fine.

New week. Fresh start.

It's a good reminder that fitness doesn't have to be all too serious.

Yes it should challenge you.

Yes it should push you outside your comfort zone.

But it should be something y out enjoy.

When training fits into real life, you look forward to it. You laugh with the people around you, you work hard and leave feeling better than you walked in.

That's the kind of fitness that keeps people showing up.

Who remembers this event? The cold drive to Telford, snow on the road, the fog and smiling through some of the challenges of the event?

Same venue again in April.

Deadly Dozen STRONG .

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of the athletes that attended our Deadly Dozen STRONG event held at my fitness studio over here in Timperley. You all did amazing and I'm glad you all enjoyed it and it's great to hear that you want to come back again soon.

I'd also like to thank our amazing members who took the role as judges to help this event run smoothly. You were all fantastic and without you all these events would not happen.

Here's to the next event. Deadly Dozen ERG . 22nd March.

8 years ago this week I walked into an AA meeting knowing I needed help but also thinking can I really change ?

At that point in my life I was drinking heavily and relying on prescribed antidepressants drugs to help me just get through the day. From the outside things probably looked normal, but inside I wasn't in a good place and I could just about keep my head above water.

Walking into those meetings at the start wasn't easy. I remember sitting round in a circle listening to other people stories and then going home and pretending to others all was great but deep down thinking have a got the strength to this.

Walking into those meetings was not easy, in fact it was probably one of the hardest things i have ever done in my life.

But I kept showing up. One meeting at a time.One day at a time, it was either that or hit the bottle and that was not an option.

Some days were harder than others, but slowly things started to change , I no longer started to hate myself. My head started to become clearer. I started facing things instead of numbing myself from them.

Earlier this week marked 8 years since I drank alcohol. It's 8 years since I stopped taking prescribed medication.

Looking back now entering that first AA meeting was one of the hardest things but was one of the best things.

I'm in the best place I've ever been and I didn't get here on my own.

To my family and people around me who supported me and stood by me through tough times... Thank you. I'm incredibly grateful and I know I wouldn't be here right now without you.

8 years on.

Still grateful. Still learning. One day at a time.

Yesterday we ran a Sunday social at our fitness studio on Park Road Timperley.

We started with Boxercise. Went through technique and drills, then finished with a short sharp workout.

Then straight into Bootcamp. 30 minutes. 7 stations. Fast paced and hard work.

And because it was Sunday, we finished off with homemade banana and choc chip cake and a coffee.
