UK Government to introduce legislation to regulate and licence cosmetic procedures 📢

New protections have been announced that intend to safeguard the public and restore trust within aesthetics. For those who aren’t aware, this is an overview;

🔺 Only healthcare professionals will be allowed to perform the highest-risk procedures, including non-surgical Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs)

🔺 Mandatory licensing for clinics offering Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers – with strict standards for training, hygiene, and insurance

🔺 Age restrictions to protect under-18s from social media-fuelled treatment trends

🔺 Action on rogue operators whose botched work causes physical harm and adds cost to the NHS

🔺 CQC regulation required for highest-risk treatments

Here is my statement and response;

“The government has said again that it’s committed to regulating the aesthetics industry, but let’s be honest, this sounds just like the October 2023 consultation. Nothing new, just more talk.

As a clinic already regulated by the CQC and led by NMC-registered professionals, I support proper regulation. I’ve always said we need it. But don’t over-regulate the people already working safely and ethically. Focus on those who aren’t.

We’ve seen the harm that comes from no regulation.

One in three people are still going to unqualified practitioners This is serious.

We need structure. We need enforcement. We need action.”

“I want to look like me, just more refreshed.”

It’s something I hear from patients all the time. While dermal filler absolutely has its place, we often begin with skin quality before anything else. Why? Because when the skin is healthy, everything else looks better too.
