Stepped out of my comfort zone this week and onto the stage 🎭

I’ve done musicals before, but this Agatha Christie play felt like a whole new challenge (thank you and for persuading me!) — learning lines, hitting cues, and remembering where I’m meant to be… all while sometimes not even remembering why I walked into a room in real life 😅

But honestly… I LOVED it.

There’s something incredibly empowering about pushing yourself, stepping into a character, and realising you’re capable of more than you think. Every rehearsal, every moment on stage built confidence in a way I didn’t expect.

And the grey wig? gave me a little glimpse into the future 👵🏻😂 . Apparently I looked just like my mum ❤️. She couldn’t be there in the end as she wasn’t well enough — man plans, God laughs — but I know she was there in spirit, which made it all feel even more special.

Feeling so grateful for the amazing support from family and friends, and for such a brilliant cast to share my hobby with, even rekindling old friendships!

I see the difference movement makes — every single week.

Week after week I watch people become steadier on their feet, stronger in their bodies, and brighter in themselves. Movement improves balance, confidence, mood and connection — and it genuinely changes how people experience their later years.

In my Knutsford class we keep it playful and varied. We work on coordination and dexterity (often with something as simple as tennis-ball games), move through circuits, use resistance bands and weights, and focus on core strength, balance and agility. It’s functional, it’s achievable — and it works.

The results go far beyond physical strength. I see confidence grow, fear of falling reduce, friendships form and joy return to movement.

If you care about someone as they get older — especially if they’re slowing down, feeling isolated or losing confidence in their body — encourage them to move, ideally in a class with others. Movement, especially together, really matters.

Joy, pride, love, gratitude — all wrapped up in this moment. ❤️

What a week! 💃🎭
Performing in Guys and Dolls has pushed me right out of my comfort zone — learning dance moves, singing, and being part of such a fun, talented cast of all ages.

There was so much communal effervescence — that wonderful buzz of shared energy, laughter, and joy that comes from creating something together. Backstage was full of fun, kindness, and camaraderie — a real community spirit that reminded me how powerful it is to connect through creativity.

As writes in The Joy of Movement, “Joy is an ancient emotion that connects us to life and to one another.”
I truly felt that this week — through movement, music, and being part of something bigger than myself.

And let’s not forget the power of singing — it lifts your mood, strengthens your lungs, releases endorphins, and bonds people in the most joyful way. It’s such a tonic for body and mind. 🎶

It’s been amazing for my health, confidence, and joy — especially in midlife, when dance moves and lines take a little longer to stick! Proof that it’s never too late to try something new, move your body, and let yourself shine on stage (or wherever your passion takes you!).

So here’s my challenge to you: go find your passion and joy! Join a local group — amateur dramatics, painting, singing, dancing, anything that makes you feel alive. You’ll find community, laughter, and a whole lot of joy waiting for you.

Feeling grateful, energised, and slightly amazed I remembered all the moves — well, most of them!

Such a joy to team up with my friend and colleague Suzy for a Menopause Awareness Day session with the brilliant team at

We shared simple, evidence-based ways to find calm in the middle of busy working lives — helping women in midlife reconnect with their focus, energy and confidence 💪

The feedback says it all “Best productive hour spent this month!”
“Such a positive, uplifting session!”

Let’s not lose brilliant women to burnout or overwhelm.
Support them. Educate them. Empower them.
It’s inspiring to see organisations like leading the way and showing their women they truly matter 💛

That’s exactly why we created Second Spring Wellbeing — to help women step into this chapter feeling strong, supported and thriving.

I didn’t train specifically for this — no strict plan, just my usual mix of strength training (thank you ), short runs, barre, dancing, stretching, relaxation, and plenty of positive thinking.

Finished in 2:06, placing roughly in the top 25% of women aged 55–59 🙌

We often lose confidence as we age, but what we gain is wisdom, resilience, and perspective. Menopause isn’t the end of anything — it’s a reminder to tune in, move differently, and celebrate what our bodies can do.
My husband called me out on my own negativity — “You’ve spent years saying you’re not a runner… well, now you are!” It’s a good reminder that the way we talk to ourselves really matters.
Feeling so grateful for this body, for movement in all its forms, and for the incredible Manchester crowd who carried us every step of the way.

Here’s to joyful midlife movement, strength in all its forms, and embracing every chapter with a smile.

4 days. 60 +miles. 40ish peaks. The Bob Graham Round — done. Felt every climb — and loved every step. (Well mostly!)

What a journey. Months of training, mindset work, fueling right, and trusting the process. At 55, I feel stronger than ever — mentally, physically, spiritually.

Grateful for this body that can hike up mountains and fly back down (well it felt like I was!) and even more grateful to have shared it all with my soulmate — he pushes me out of my comfort zone, into mud, up mountains, and always towards more than I thought I could do.
He’s the coach I never asked for… but somehow always needed 💪❤️

Nature gave us her best this week, complete with rain, sun & winds that nearly pushed me down the mountain, but I found myself smiling back for most of it. 🙏

Here’s to stepping outside our comfort zones, embracing mid-life and finding our power. 🌄

Still feeling so inspired after Wednesday’s gathering in Manchester, where I was lucky enough to join an incredible group of women—founders of some of the UK’s most heartfelt grassroots (and small but mighty) charities—for a day of connection and reflection.

It was an emotional day, filled with stories born from both heartbreak and hope. We left with new ideas, renewed energy, and a strong sense of purpose and value.

Brought together by the brilliant (yes—the one that gives all available profits to charity instead of shareholders—how amazing is that?), we had open and honest conversations about the highs and lows of running charities. We discussed how funders can better support the people behind the work, how to ensure longevity, and how to recruit those who truly care to carry on the legacy—just a few of the many important topics we covered.

I was there wearing a few hats:
🎈 As co-founder (with my dear friend and colleague ) of The Big Birthday Appeal, encouraging children to give to others less fortunate—still one of my proudest projects.
🫶 Representing Pip’s Place Online, under , founded by a close friend after tragically losing her daughter to anorexia.
📘 And to share our Gratitude Journal and find the best ways to roll out across primary schools, to help children build resilience and mental wellbeing.

Massive thanks to Benefact Group Chris Pitt Ian Tate Carla Gill for facilitating the day-not only supporting charities financially, but for caring about and valuing the people behind them too.

“When women support each other, incredible things happen.”

Hope it’s not too long till the next time we meet up!

26 Miles!!! Blisters? A few. Regrets? Never.
One team. Endless laughs.
Moving for 26+ miles reminded me exactly why my squats, lunges, and daily movement matter. This is what aging with energy, strength, and joy looks like—especially when shared with friends.

Huge shoutout to my incredible Blister Sisters—what a journey we had walking from Hale Mersey to Hale Cheshire! It was hot, emotional, and definitely tough on the toes… but every single one of you showed up with grit, heart and determination. You were all inspiring.

We laughed, some limped, but together we absolutely smashed it. “Proud” doesn’t even come close.

Massive thanks to and his brilliant team for organising the day to perfection.

So here’s to movement, muscles, blisters, and badass women pushing boundaries—together.
Because when strong women move together, magic happens!

This Sunday I’ll be doing a walking marathon in memory of my friend’s beautiful daughter, who tragically took her own life. We’re raising money for Pip’s Place, a sanctuary of hope and healing for young people struggling with their mental health.
If you can, please consider donating the price of a coffee (and maybe a slice of cake too) to support this vital cause. Every bit really does make a difference.

Family of legends!
My heart is bursting with pride.
My incredible hubby (who proved that you might not be young anymore, but you don’t have to be old!) along with our son, two nephews, and our amazing niece all completed the London Marathon. Watching their grit, courage, and pure determination was something else.
Every single one of you showed what true strength looks like, and I’m in awe.
Special mention to — coaching you through the toughest moments over the phone when you hit the wall was one of the hardest (and most emotional) things I’ve ever done!
Running to raise much-needed funds for special charities helped them through it — big shout-out to the wonderful support team and .
The sun was shining, the crowd was electric, and the energy was infectious. I felt like I deserved a medal from running around after all of them and for a split second, I could even have been tempted to sign up myself! For now though, I’ve wrapped up some of their determination and enthusiasm for my challenging walking marathon next week ( — still places to join me and my fellow Blister Sisters!).
I’m not sure why it takes to make us all lift each other up, giving respect where it’s needed to total strangers, but it was a memorable day full of love and happiness!

Muscle, laughter, and a refusal to quit—that’s how we do 83.

Working with my amazing 83-year-old client is one of the most inspiring parts of my job.
Every session she shows up with determination, pushes through discomfort, and leaves standing taller, moving better, and smiling wider.

At a time when so many are told to “slow down,” she’s doing the opposite—proving just how transformative movement can be.

We don’t just walk. We lift, we balance, we move with purpose.
Because while walking is wonderful, it’s not enough on its own.

Strength and resistance training are vital as we age:
• To maintain muscle mass
• To protect bone density
• To improve balance and prevent falls
• To keep joints mobile
• And to boost mental health, confidence, and independence

Movement in older age isn’t about chasing aesthetics—it’s about function, freedom, and feeling good in your body for as long as possible.

Aging isn’t a reason to slow down. It’s a call to move smarter, train with purpose, and say YES to strength, connection, and joy.

This is what active aging looks like—and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of her journey.

(Also loved hearing talk about this on ’s recent podcast—such validation for what we’re doing every day. Can’t wait to dive into his book!)
