At this time of year, we’re especially aware of how powerful memories can be for the people we support. Christmas often brings moments of reflection, stories from the past, and emotions that resurface and being given time to reminisce is one of the greatest gifts of all.
We feel truly blessed to have such a dedicated workforce, who bring their passion, patience and kindness to work every single day. It’s in the unhurried conversations, the shared memories, and the genuine human connection that their care really shines.
Thank you to our Care Professionals for all that you do, especially at this special time of year. Special thanks to Mads Hjort for sharing this picture💛🎄

🎄 Festive Get-Together at Broomwood Community Centre 🎄✨
A wonderful festive get-together celebrating community, connection, and inclusion at Broomwood Community Centre 💙

Broomwood Community Centre is one of four BlueSCI sites across Trafford. Founded in 2004, BlueSCI has spent over 20 years working alongside local communities, supporting mental health and wellbeing through social and cultural inclusion.

The festivities included music, festive food, and plenty of friendly faces to hand out our community calendar to help spread some festive cheer.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a warm and welcoming celebration ✨🎉

🎄 A little Christmas joy for your feed 🎄
We couldn’t resist sharing this… The 12 Days of Christmas beautifully sung by the amazing Voices choir — with Alan Savage sneaking in at the end!
Well over 13 years ago, Alan had the privilege of helping Clare Morel, Lucy McElhinney from The Music Place, and Neil Hughes set up Vibrant Voices at the Cinnamon Club in Bowdon.
Today, they meet every Wednesday from 2–4pm at Bowdon Parish , and honestly, it’s one of the very best dementia support groups we’ve ever come across. Each year it grows — not just in numbers, but in spirit. The warmth, laughter and joy in the room are truly something special.
For people living with dementia, music has a way of giving voice when words become harder to find. And for partners and loved ones, seeing that spark of connection again is incredibly powerful.
A huge thank you to everyone who makes Vibrant Voices what it is — a wonderful reminder of what music, community and compassion can achieve… especially at Christmas

When night-time care really matters
Recently, we were reminded just how important the right support can be during the night. When families are exhausted, worried, and facing incredibly difficult moments, knowing that someone compassionate and experienced is there can make all the difference.
Night-time care isn’t just about being present. It’s about reassurance, continuity, dignity, and giving families the chance to rest, knowing their loved one is safe and supported. Whether that’s a waking night, sleep-in support, or simply having the same familiar Care Professional throughout, those quiet hours can be the most important of all.
At Home Instead Altrincham, Sale & Wythenshawe, our night team step in when it matters most — offering calm, kindness, and experienced care, often at very short notice. It’s a privilege to help people remain at home, surrounded by familiarity, comfort, and the people they love.
We’ve written more about how night-time care works, who it can help, and what families should consider when nights become more challenging in our latest blog.

A ripple effect 💛
Some of the most meaningful feedback we receive comes quietly, a handwritten thank you, a moment of relief, a family feeling supported.
One message we received recently said:
“During a very tough year, the care team didn’t just support my parents they made the days brighter for all of us.”
This is why care matters. When it’s done well, it doesn’t just support one person, it supports the whole family.
Our team are here and working throughout the Christmas season. If you need a chat, some reassurance, or simply want to talk things through, please feel free to pick up the phone and call us on 0161 870 1136.

🎄 A lovely community moment to share…
Alan Savage was at the Christmas buffet at St Mary Magdalene Church recently, spending time with Carol Dodgson and her Craft Group, and Joel White with his Directions for Men group – both of which run on Monday mornings and are featured in our What’s on Where (WoW) guide.
One of those moments that really makes you smile came when one of the gentlemen chatting to Alan shared that he’d discovered the group through the Live Well, Your Way magazine. He’d picked it up at Coppice Library and Wellbeing Centre who always keep a few copies available for anyone wanting to see what’s happening locally.
It’s exactly why we create the magazine and WoW guide – helping people find local groups, make connections, and feel part of their community 💛
If you’re local and haven’t seen a copy yet, pop into places like Coppice Road Library and take a look at what’s on where near you.

💚 Connecting with Macmillan at Wythenshawe Hospital 💚
Lisa had a wonderful meeting with Kirsty from the Macmillan Information & Support Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital. It’s amazing to learn more about the free support available for anyone affected by cancer — whether you're going through treatment, recovering, or supporting a loved one.
Here are some of the brilliant services they offer:
✨ Back 2 U – A free skincare and makeup workshop to help boost confidence during and after treatment.
✨ Moving Forward Together – An interactive support programme designed for the period after treatment ends, helping people adjust, rebuild and regain confidence.
✨ Craft & Chat Group – A relaxed, friendly space to get creative, share experiences and meet others.
✨ Bereavement Support – Caring, compassionate support for anyone coping with loss.
We’re grateful for all the incredible work Macmillan do locally — and for the warm welcome from Kirsty.
If you or someone you know may benefit from these services, please do get in touch with the team at Wythenshawe Hospital. No one should face cancer alone. 💚
