Welcome to the world Dollie Mae!

Mum Georgia sent us these pictures showing how much she looks like her 5D scan images which were captured when she was 37+6 weeks proving that not only are Starlight’s 5D scans the very best but also that great views of baby are possible at later gestations.

Of course baby’s position and the placenta play a part but we continue to accept bookings for 5D scans at any gestation even after 30 weeks.

If you have an anterior placenta (at the front) it’s best to come no later than 28 weeks

🌀 MYTH: “Ultrasound scans are harmful to unborn babies.”

TRUTH: Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging technique that has been used in pregnancy for decades — with no proven harm to mother or baby when performed by trained professionals.

✅ Ultrasound uses sound waves, not radiation.
✅ It helps monitor fetal development, detect abnormalities, and guide safe care.
✅ There is no reason to withhold diagnostic ultrasound during pregnancy. It has a strong safety record when used appropriately by qualified and experienced healthcare professionals

💡 While “souvenir scans” (non-medical ultrasounds) are popular, they should be approached with caution. Always choose qualified providers who follow safety guidelines.

👶 At Starlight Ultrasound, our priority is the health and well-being of mother and baby. Ultrasound is one of the safest tools we have to support it.

Starlight Ultrasound is owned and run by Laura, a midwife and clinical specialist Sonographer who will only ever employ fully qualified Sonographers.

Celebrating a milestone.

We moved into our Bury clinic six years ago this week!

It took a few weeks of decorating, plumbing, organising and planning before we were able to welcomed our first customers to Starlight Ultrasound. The pictures prove we even got our boys helping build flat pack furniture!

Then, just a few months after opening, Covid struck, which seems such a long time ago already.

Since then we’ve welcomed over 15,000 customers, across our two clinics, after opening our Hale clinic in April 2022.

We remain grateful for the support and custom of everyone who’s been to Starlight Ultrasound and Starlight Boutique UK as well as our referral partners, suppliers, friends and family.

We've added a handy online calculator to certain pages of our website to help work out the earliest you can book a pregnancy scan at Starlight.

Based on the first day of your last period, the calculator will show you the date you turn 5 weeks, which is the earliest Starlight offers early pregnancy scans, as well as 6 weeks, which is usually when the fetal heartbeat is detected, and the earliest a pregnancy can be confirmed as viable.

Of course, it is an estimate and the ultrasound scan will be able to date the pregnancy more accurately but it is a useful and helpful tool to help you plan your first scan.
